Hi wijcc

Get in touch if you want a replacement screen for Navigo v2 - I've got 2 with knackered usb ports so can't power them up - screens are good on both though!!

I was thinking of getting a Foehn & Hirsch GPS35LS and then installing tomtom on this... I used to have a Navigo v2 (which has a cracked screen now) which with the help of the PC tailor website i managed to install tomtom on it.
Is it possible to get TomTom running on this GPS35LS unit.. and does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks in advance guys

Hi Pumptytums

So if I buy F&H GPS35LS I will be able to [EASILY] install TomTom onto it. Would I also be able to install USA maps - heading over next month and it would be great to have my own SatNav.

Thanks

The device on the website clearly says WinCE 6, Tomtom will not work properly on WinCE 6, It may be an updated version of that device, or it may be an error on the website, Binatone changed some of their devices from 5 to 6 on the same hardware.

Do you need any specific hardware requirements like headphone socket, FM transmitter or external antennae connection?

Hi fbf

Nothing specific at all - I've had a couple of the v2/v3 Navigo (earlier models of F&H) from ebuyer but the usb connection gets knackered (gets pushed in and off the board inside and its powered through that - don't reckon it can be fixed?) - never used anything other than TomTom on there apart from quick look at pictures to see how it works.

So time to replace and just looking for basic turn here, go there - I visit lots of towns and can get there nae bother its just handy (necessary!) to have someone telling me the directions to specific streets!

Not concerned about FM or headphones etc - would be great to have USA maps either stored on unit or swap cards from UK to USA - I did that with my earlier Navigo - other than that - basic.

Thanks

Again I think the Mio M400 would be a good choice.

It has 2GB storage of which 180MB is taken up (Can be reduced to around 50MB's if you remove the maps)

I have one and I use it daily and it still looks new.

In my opinion one of the best devices to install Tomtom on.

Would that space allow me to put on USA maps - don't need the whole of USA at the moment, if I remember from Navigo days the maps split into regions? - Massachusetts, Florida, Colorado would do.
Is the Mio 400 a better buy than Binatone 350 for TomTom with USA maps of course.
Thanks

How big are the USA maps you need?

I have a Binatone B430 as well as a M400, New B350's are Wince 6, But a Wince 5 version runs Tomtom fine, but the M400 runs it a lot faster.

Hi Fbf

Thanks for your input - just ordered Navman Mio Moov M400 - 4.3" UK & ROI NOH from eBuyer.

Have read your instructions and hopefully it will make sense when the unit is here (Wednesday) - I'll deal with the USA maps later (hopefully they fit!).

For UK maps is this OK for using

United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675 with Automatic Installer & Patcher
; United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3675
C3 81 0B 48 2D E9 6B 09 43 FE 8F E5 9B 99 46 36 United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-424.metatomtom
- got it from All New Maps 875.XX post 83

along with TomTom version7.450

Thanks again

I'm not in the US so have no experience with USA maps, but looking at the map thread there its a USA map that's 980MB in size, there's plenty of room for this and the UK map.

You can have both at the same time and just switch between them when necessary.

7.450 is the best version for this device.
