Foehn & Hirsch GPS35LS and Tomtom

Tue Oct 25, 2011 5:08 pm

Hi all...

I was thinking of getting a Foehn & Hirsch GPS35LS and then installing tomtom on this... I used to have a Navigo v2 (which has a cracked screen now) which with the help of the PC tailor website i managed to install tomtom on it.
Is it possible to get TomTom running on this GPS35LS unit.. and does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks in advance guys

If its running wince 6 you may have problems getting tomtom to work on it. But if you check the site maybe someone has found a way of running tomtom on wince 6

Are you locked into having TT or would the iGO programs be OK? Remember that TT for WinCE does not have TTS and is just a basic nav that directs you from point A to point B. Same with Garmin Mobile XT.

I will have a look later, it probably depends on what version of windows ce is installed

it says it is Microsoft Win CE.NET 6.0 Operating System

If I may butt in here...I think FBF would agree (as he has been through this many many times), that with WinCE 6.x, you will have a lot of trouble with TomTom.
A LOT of trouble.

darn.. not want i was wanting to hear... i read somewhere and some people managed to run tomtom on it

You can make it work with Mortscript but there are some MAJOR limitations and problems doing it this way.

Wed Oct 26, 2011 11:34 am

what are the limitations and problems please?
Are there any other units that you would recommend i get instead of this one?

You can't save favourites and some other settings
It always starts with the same route loaded
You need to keep a route in memory when switching off
It corrupts itself regularly and needs to be reinstalled from a pc
It's more complicated to install than wince 5

Have you looked at actual tomtom devices?
Or if that's not an option you can do a lot worse than a Mio Moov or a navman equivalent, M400, F45 S50, etc, Tomtom works like a dream on these devices

just to confirm the Navman Mio Moov M400 is better for uploading tomtom?
Also, is there much difference between the Navman M400 and Navman M448?
Thanks again

I have a M400 myself, Be aware that it only has 2GB memory and no card slot, The installed software takes up 180MB, Although you can reduce that down to 50MB

Also you must unlock it correctly or permanent damage can happen.
