This is my first post and hopefully someone can help me.
I have recently bought Mio M400 from ebuyer after reading well written guide by Fatboyfun.
I hope he can help me.

I have unlocked the unit and copied Navigator folder to the root dir of the unit. I also picked the latest Maps for UK
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_880.3868 with Automatic Installer & Patcher
also in the root dir i have AutoActivate.exe
there is also zip folder which has got post code files


when i run TomTom Navigatoe.exe i get a complain written in french which is according to the guide.
I then switch off the Mio 400 and reconnect it to my pc and then run AutoActivate.exe.
It does some stuff and then say click any key to continue, i do that and I assume I can then disconnect the device and run Tom Tom again using FileManCE.
According to trhe guide i should be able to setup everything according to ur preferrences but in my case i still get that French language error. I don't see any pages for settings. I have seen memory error
I think i am not reading the maps
Any help will be appreciated

In the map folder, is there a...

United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-482.meta.dct

file present?

I'll check and let you know, in case it is not there, what do I need to do

If it's not there then the map is not patched

FatboyFun u r a star, the file was there but patcher made an extra directory inside the map dir and all the files were in that directory. I got rid of the extra directory and moved all the files under map dir. it works and i went through the pages to set up the language and other settings.
for the post code files, i just extracted them o the root dir of the device, is that correct as my device only shows 4 digit post code, e.g
it only shows SE24 and ot the full 7 digit post code. Not sure what i need to do that to fix.
also how do i put short cut Tom Tom on device

Great_Britain.postal and Great_BritainPostal.ver need to go in a folder called Zip in the root of the device.

To get a shortcut on the desktop open notepad on your PC and type...

"\My Flash Disk\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe" Which is the path to the executable on your device within quotes
Count all the characters 47 in the above example
Arrange the text like this...
47#"\My Flash Disk\Navigator\Tomtom Navigator.exe"
Save the file as...
Tomtom.lnk That's LiNK not INK
Make sure it's Tomtom.lnk and not Tomtom.lnk.txt
Your PC will hide .lnk so you'll just have an icon called Tomtom
Copy this file to the...
Program Files\Unlock\Desktop folder to have it on your desktop OR Program Files\Unlock\Programs to have it in the Start menu.

Or you can use this

To get Tomtom to autostart...
Rename Tomtom.lnk to Autorun.lnk and copy it to...
Program Files\Unlock and Tomtom will autostart when the device is rebooted, When you exit Tomtom the desktop appears.

when i switch on my device i get a screen which has 4 square boxes
one says BFT
2nd says 3F_QA
3rd says Before
fth says After

also on the same screen i have buttons Delete and Exit
I have to press Exit to go to the screen where i can select tom tom
Is there any way I can get rid of this screen so when i switch on the device i just get Tom Tom symbol

My other question is How to install speed Cameras

other NMEA GPS receiver
baud rate 4800 and
SirfNafDrv

which i did but i still couldn't find any satellites for a route selected. it could be due to weather but if there is ay other settings i need to check plz let me know.
Also when u start the device, u see tom tom icon as well as st. if i press st what would i see.

You will get an animated connection screen when connected to the PC, But i don't know what screen you're talking about.

The first time you run Tomtom it will take up to 30 minutes to find the satellites, You should be outside and stationary on a clear day, The weather will affect reception.

There are no other settings to make, It just takes time sometimes.

SmartST_CE is the original software, You will need to reset the device to exit.
