Postby Atasas » Tue Mar 01, 2011 6:14 pm

Hello again!
(@ FatBoyFun- sorry decided to make new topic for future readers to have benefit of such as well)
I've got this not to bad unit, but it lacks maps for EU, so looking arround as what and how to run better system on in (with maps)

So got TT 7450, thanks to FatBoyFun, this one is 320x240 resolution
It is weird as iGO would not start- keeps giving me various error messages, close, but no cigar.
If not successful in changing SatNav System- would like to add European maps.?
Ideally (hardly) I'd like to run TT on it, but have an issue of GPS Device
Image
GPS driver issue.
I did try 2 variants of iGO- none would start either giving me another array of errors.

Great unit as such (apart from batery needed to have replaced twice) and simply next to impossible to find PC connection cable.
Any ideas please?
Thanks!

Fatboyfun

There may well be an exe to start the GPS driver, Or you may need PortSplitter

got maps and TT loaded- nothing as for reception whaever setting I input... and to be honest- not sure as what you mean? how could I sort reception issues?
BTW it works as when Navigator folder and TT Navigator got renamed as Drvie (before placing/patching the maps)
Absolute no go with iGO (8 or Primo)

Right this thread explains what the error messages mean and how to solve them.
As this is a 320x240 device you will need a data.zip that has the right resolution files within.

Can you list step by step how you got Tomtom to start?
A quick search around the 'net reveals that other users say they've got Tomtom and/or iGO software loaded but no instructions on how to do so.
So it may be that there was a application called by the shell somewhere that loads the GPS driver or Tomtom can't see the GPS port for some reason.

PortSplitter is a small utility that sits in-between the GPS hardware port and the GPS application and helps them connect together.

Tom Tom works, but not a driver as actual device of GPS
to get it there all I did: (I lied unintentionally a bit earlier)
as tried the second time round- realized, that successful install one was when-
 • I extracted all required original (update) files to new formated LOOKET SD Card;
 • renamed Drive.exe in DRIVE folder to DR2.exe;
 • get Holiday Pics (your one version of tt)folder to root
 • then added all that is nececary from navigator folder to that "DRIVE" folder;
 • Renamed TomTom Navigator.exe- Drive.exe;
 • replaced all repeating itself files with ones from Navigator( Style and etc)
 • Get automated maps and install them to root (not 100% as what or how), but works if I use <Europe_1GB_West_860_3126>
 • done with maps as per same- used autoinstaler to root;
 • once all files sorted- copied content from WE UK and ROI to MAPS folder(do not remember as had to, but if- replaced same/repeating files with ones from TT;
 • Get .bif and META files to root
 • Applied patch AutoActivate_v1.5_09.01.2011
Pain- all in French, find language settings- change to English.
Result- works as in loads up app and map, but cant figure out wireless GPS module to communicate.

What .exe files are there in the original Drive folder AND in the Windows folder?

Download 2470, run it and in the input box tap on the port box, This will list all the available com ports, If it's the same as what's listed in Tomtom then a process/driver is not starting. If there's more ports available then for some reason Tomtom can't see it and you will need to use port splitter to forward it to a new port.

Update for iGo?- right? (if thats the case how do I apply? or just use instead of any previous iGO version?)

Image

To see ports on a unit??- none connection to PC...

and all so sudden as I attempted to deal with update- weird error I/O coming through... safely unplugged, reinserted SD reader- same! dunno what is happening!

... I know- so many questions...Hang in there with me! had to restart PC - some weird errors regarding USB adapters now appear sometimes.

No the update is for what was the original software. It looks like it replaces the whole installation.

Run portsplitter on the gps device, just rename portsplitter.exe to match drive.exe, temporarily rename the original to something else.

Portsplitter shows what SERIAL ports are available to windows on your GPS device, And it can redirect them for software that can't see them.

Yes, but it wouldn't start. (not a valid Drive application)
any more ideas?
All I think off is for somebody in a better knowledge to modify settings.dll file as how to leave it on and to get driver to work with TT

... the other option is to get Sygic TeleAtlas maps for Eu, but which would be compatible ?

shame to be giving up so close on running TomTom, but not a disaster as actual Looket's software is not too bad

Thanks!

There's still things we can try... When i get home to a pc i can upload a file explorer so we can see what's in the windows directory, or start the original software and kill it to hopefully initiate the GPS driver.

This is a tricky one...

I know nothing about the Sygic application but we have a Sygic sub forum here on Navitotal, Might be worth browsing through it, I'll be back online in a couple of hours...
