Miopocket may be overkill for what you want to accomplish, and it adds a layer of complexity that some devices don't play well with.
There may be simpler methods to get a menu (some call this 'unlocking').
But if you
insist on Miopocket, see here for some specifics:

what options do you recommend? I agree miopocket has a lot of stuff I will never use. I had issues getting regular mio to work right but did work -breifly. I dont need games and office apps and productivity tools. Its a gps and I have a android phone. dedicated devices work out better. thanks

I admit to not being familiar with how a Magellan starts up..you may have to play around to determine what needs to be renamed..or wait for Fatboyfun to help..but this is what I use:
Universal-ShellSimple, customizable, all the basic tools needed, and does not mess with the WinCE registry (which is what
can make Miopocket a bit dangerous on some devices).
PS...new link to Universal Shell in case others are dead:

I've never seen this device in real life, but \SDMMC\iBoot.exe looks simple enough, Rename the main .exe and .mscr of the chosen unlock to iBoot.exe/.mscr and include Mortscript.exe as you did with Miopocket and it should work.
Make sure to "Uninstall" Miopocket by using the option within Miopocket to undo the registry changes it makes!
There may be further tweaks to make before it runs 100%.

is there any way to change the magellan maps to navteq from teleatlas, I thought it was navteq when I got it but they changed apparently.

??
[Please Register or Login to download file] Magellan products currently use Navteq based maps
Is there something in the device that indicates otherwise?

thats what I thought when I got it and got it on part because of that. But, prior to this I used a navigon that had been running exclusively on igo with navteq for most of its life. I replaced it with a tomtom for a couple of months till tomtom said it was bad and should be replaced. (the store was nice to let me swap then). The tomtom had all exits in a certain section of freeway labeled as joe battle. navteq does not (uses correct names) Magellan has them labeled incorrectly. yesterday a certain section of a base, magellan had the street in the wrong place then while I was on the correct street it showed me going across other streets off road. swap to igo with navteq - on the correct street at the correct point (a cul de sac). best buy site lists all the current magellans as having teleatlas. but some older ones say navteq. no response yet from magellan.
