Just for fun:)...They have lot of money from VC's. They fully depend on corporate account and OEMS- like Mahindra ,etc .And most individual's who bought Nav device from them will opt for map upgrade by paying extra money. Only very less % of people will look for other options. More over their attitude. They are not ready to sell only Maps for WinCe devices. We need to buy the device itself. No free map upgrades. Its ok till now.But nowadays lot of option for end users. Smartphones with google map navigation, Garmin with free map upgrades,TOMTOM, etc.
Just checked their website today and found .

Thanks.

To be honest i'm getting confused with MMIs updates :scratch_one-s_head_

For Example: According to their own release history chart the latest version is 7.0 with 4000 cities. Further up the same page cities are 4500, and here [Please Register or Login to download file] they are 4751!

Nitinule, i know you are aware there was a recent issue with a release of 7.0 and also what was being termed as 7.0 Revision. I see the useful thread on GPSUnderground has been removed!!
At the moment i have 7.0 Revision running both on PC and WinCE, but as yet i haven't found the updated 3d file; india_mi_201205.3d.cpf. I am still using india_mi_201110.3d.cpf

Have you come across the latest 3d file yet?

So it would appear 7.1 is released [Please Register or Login to download file] which is the version containing 4751 cities.

@ Superabound **It my observation. May be wrong***
MMi has different set of Nav map data for their products.
V7.0 maps with 4000 cities is for their own Nav products, Sygic Mobile maps and Garmin maps.
V7.0 revision maps with 4500 cities is for OEM's and corporates. If you check in Mahindra XUV vechile you can find. It may contain some addition POI data like service staions, etc ...
If you check with MMI history, the nav Maps for their Nav products got the best POI and accuracy.

So in their v7.0 revision , i found many POI's missing. But the map accuracy/revision increased.
So in v7.1 they may implement the changes with proper POI's.Yet to check.
Also you can find a new file india_mi_*.ph.cpf. It may be for phone nos search. But not checked. Any idea?.. May be we need the proper india*.cpf files to enable this option.

@nitinule
You can check Superabound's Post.

Thanks
Happy Navigation

@ mjose
I don't think there is a phone search function, but i did see this stated as a feature for mobile users; "Many POIs come with a direct telephone number so you can phone ahead and make reservations as well".
Note the term "direct telephone number", Perhaps this is a new feature??

Sooner or later 7.1 will be floating around. For now i am just happy to have updated from 6.0

In just over 2 weeks i will be in India, so i can give it a good road testing with my trusty Bajaj.
So far i have covered about 30,000Km on a motorcycle using MMI and it constantly amazes me. I don't carry any maps or guide books, so it's great to arrive in a town/city without any knowledge, tap the screen and let MMI search and guide me to hotels/guest houses etc.

Bom!
