How did you install iGO? What did you do? What unlock did you use?

The PC will not recognize the device while iGO is running. Disconnect, exit the program and connet to the PC again.

iGO application install: copy iGO in to folder \Program Files\Navman\ and iGO.exe rename to AppStartupSec.exe, and after that I cannot exit from iGO application. After starting iGO application navigation device is blocked.

AppStartupSec.exe is responsible for the USB connection.

If it isn't running, you can't connect via USB, Ever!

It is not an easy fix.

I short pin 9 to ground and after that navigation device won't power on. In device manager is Unknown Device. Any idea what is it?

Sounds like it's broken, blame navman for the trap and not including the USB driver in ROM.

You can try disconnecting the battery for a bit to see if it then switches back on, but however in most cases once you've lost the USB access the device is a paperweight anyway.

You are not the first user to fall into this trap, and you won't be the last.

Not really. The lesson is :
1. Realize that whatever you do, you do it on your own risk
2. seek information and do not rely on one source only - if someone has bricked (like you) try to know why and how things went wrong. - Esp seek info on the combination device/software (and esp the unlock method).
3. consider why you want to do it, why you need to do it and what the risks are, can you afford to fail? Can you throw away the device or still use it as things go wrong (as a paperweight) ? Will you go on when the device is worth some money?
4. if "yes" to 3, read careful any information you can find before you do anything
5. make sure you have a back up or whatever so you can return to the previous state (not always possible)
6. do exactly as explained in the "manual" and remember point 2. Think before do. (also see my remark at the end)
7. it did not go as planned? only one to blame, do not ever say "if I had only ..." ("used my head" could be applicable)

And finally, one other remark as in 6.
I can't make out what the error message is. Suppose it's an iGO error that is fixable, only because iGO is starting up right at power on, you can't correct it. So consider if you had made an extra step, one that allowed starting preferably Windows Explorer or something (and from there you could start IGO) you could still connect to PC and correct the error. See what I mean? That is or can be the disadvantage of starting any software at power on. If that one fails ....
