@kilomike

I believe the navsure device clones the card into it's internal memory, some propriety files on the card may be required, so getting hold of a image of the original card is a good idea.

Hey guys.

Right well, I found an old copy I somehow had backed up to my laptop of my original SD card content. The original problem that wrote off my SatNav was the "UnitedKingdom7PPC.fbl" being corrupt. So I did try to replace that but gave up after a fashion. I have now restored that kit to my card and it boots to the iGo software no problem, I get the T&Cs and all that stuff fine, but the maps still don't load.

I tried loading one from the FatboyFun links on this site and it still didn't take. What I did find is that the error comes up with "Maps may be out of date, visit..." (which is a truncated message, not my ellipsis on the end) - it didn't seem to want to read the .fbl file, also if I pull the basemap.fbl file and replace it with another version from another kid, the same error pops up but that happens before the Nav software engine has started (so it is a little WinCE standard prompt).

Any thoughts are welcome; my consideration would be with:

1. Possible version mismatch; i.e the Map pack I have loaded may be for an older, or newer version of iGO
2. Possible corrupt basemap file
3. Possible filename problem (I am not 100% certain that the original UnitedKingdom7PPC.fbl was the correct file name; (I presume looking at it, that it Is for a PPC; Pocket PC of some sort)
4. I've had a little too much Rioja and none of this makes sense!

Any input would be appreciated guys because I am two minutes away from getting this working again!

Cheers!
Kilomike

1, The original iGO you have is a legal version, Updated maps available from here and similar sites won't work with it.
2, Same problem as #1. Basemap.fbl is an optional file anyway.
3, The text before .fbl in the filename doesn't matter, it can be anything.

What you can do in the absence of a working navsure image is to clone the original card onto another, find another version of iGO from this site, and replace the original application, paying attention to the folder\filename.exe of the original app, but leave any other folder/files outside of the iGO application on the card.

This should get you a silent, but usable navigation application on your device.

Hey FBF,

Thanks for the advice, I'll give that a go today.

It is a strange folder structure on my Card, the navigation.exe is only like 2mb and there is no igo.exe on the card, so I'll try replacing that .exe with an igo.exe and rename it and try out your suggestion!

You must keep the path to the iGO executable the same as on the original card, otherwise the device won't find it.

Is there an option in the device menu to "Set navigation path", or similar? If so use it to point to the iGO app, If not, then you will need to rename the folder\file.exe of iGO to what the device expects, could be MobileNavigator\MobileNavigator.exe or a manufacturer derivative, use Google to find out...

Thanks for the reply. No there isn't any of them options available. Is there away of clearing the bits I updated and clear the car back to the standard bits and start again? Do you know what bits I can delete from the card.

I doubt it, some of the files were probably replaced, unless you can find a backup.

What is the make/model number?

Hi Pedro,

If your unit is the same as mine, then there are no "path configuration" options, it simply starts or it doesn't. When I first tried a repair of my SD Card (my uk.fbl map became corrupt) I took it as an opportunity to try and upgrade my maps and software but every version I tried yielded the same results as you are getting. I eventually found an old back-up of my SD card on my laptop which does start the software but am unable to find a matched set of maps as yet. I have followed FatboyFun's advice but to no avail, which leads me to believe that it is indeed some form of SD card version Vs Software revision dependency - hence I presume that you need to be using the original versions.

FBF; just as a side note, replacing the original version of the navigation.exe with a newer igo.exe doesn't work, regardless of path, or indeed the name given to the <application>.exe itself.

I have reverted completely and have started scouring the web looking for a 2008 UK FBL, and have put some feelers out to some nice folks on this here forum via PM to see if they can acquire me the file.

Can I just check Pedro, what is your model of Headunit? and what map region are you looking for?

I can image my SD card and send you what I have so far if you wish, that way you can maybe get your Software running, but then it is just a matter of acquiring the maps for your region.

Let me know if I can help any further, as I am pretty certain that I am mere moments away from having this fixed.

You would need to replace the entire igo directory with the new version, not just the exe.

Sun Mar 17, 2013 7:16 pm

hi i would like a copy if that is possible

regards

Thanks kilomike,

I have the navsure 420i and the sd card at the mo iv got is the uk one only. I have ordered and Europe one on ebay which I found so hopefully that one will work. Is it possible if anyone could have a look on there sd card and under maps tell me If there was any files in the folder as mine is empty. Iv gone bk on naviextras and it just saying its up to date.

Sun Mar 17, 2013 7:26 pm

Fatboy how I replace the entire igo directory with the new version?

Sun Mar 17, 2013 7:36 pm

The directory where the iGO executable is, just replace the files and folders in there with the new versions files folders, be sure to rename the new executable to match the old one.

Bear in mind that the Navsure uses a special version to control the hardware sound mixer, any "non-special" version won't control the sound mixer, meaning no sound from iGO.
