RAC 300 running Route66 to TomTom

Postby goggy » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:30 pm

Hi all,

This is my first post to the forum so forgive me if I have missed something in the threads that tell me I am being stupid.

I have an RAC300 Satnav which I have tried to convert to Tom Tom. I have downloaded the Tomtom files (Ver. 7.910.9185 + UK maps) as described in lots of threads and installed the files onto the SD card, also as described. I can get TomTom to run when attached to the PC via a usb cable but when I disconnect and re-start the satnav it asks for me to insert the SD card and is appearing to ignore the SD card.

Any suggestions other than buy a new one or use it as a paper weight?? :)

Here are the correct instructions.

How did you install Tomtom..?
Also what SD card did you use?
Does the "Insert card" problem happen with the original software?

Hi Fatboyfun,

Thanks for the quick reply. This is what has been done:

1. Extracted the TomTom files to PC HDD and loaded them into the root of a 2Gb SD Card via card reader.

2. Got the unique ID from the SATNAV and generated the map dct file using a keygen and .pna and .meta files.

3. Put .dct into the map folder

4. renamed main folder and .exe to MobileNavigator as original Route66 card

5. created SHELL.ini and put into Resident flash folder in satnav to point to SD card MobileNavigator.exe

6. installed SD card and start-up. Get RAC splash screen and then insert sd card prompt.

Original card works fine (512Mb SD card) and original files on 2Gb card work fine.

Unit boots into TomTom One Ver.3 when on USB lead otherwise SD-Card prompt after splash screen

looks like I need to patch a file to point at .exe?

Any thoughts??

Is the original route 66 software on the original card or is in residentflash?

The shell.ini should be on the card itself.

Is there a shell.ini on the original card?

Hi Fatboyfun,

Firstly sorry for not getting back sooner, very busy at moment.

I have success at last! The problem is a memory card issue. The card can be read in a PC or card reader. It can even be seen when connected to the SatNav via usb. But if you disconnect the USB power or power it up under its own power (no usb connection) it does not see the card properly. I tried a new card and hey presto, TT7 and I also tried Igo8. Awesome. I appreciate your patience and many thanks for your help. :yahoo:
