Rac SatNav200 help converting to TomTom mapping

Hi all,

can anyone tell me if the RAC satnav200 is able to be modified with TomTom mapping?

any replies will be very appreciatted on this

Yes you can, It's been a while since i did one, but from my rubbish memory these devices use Route 66 mapping software, So you need to remove the contents of the Route 66 folder (Make a copy/backup first) and copy the contents of the Navigator folder from the download below and rename TomTom Navigator.exe to R66Navigate8.exe (Or whatever the original executable was.)

Then just add your maps and activate them in the usual way.

Did my brothers about a month ago. Basically the same as any WinCE device, i.e TT7.4/TT7.9 so it will just be a basic TomTom without IQ routes and Lane Guidance.

Will check but I think you need to rename Tomtom.exe to R66Navigate7.exe and activate the TomTom map also again from memory found the best setting of the gps as baud 19200 com7.

Sounds more complex than it actually is, think it took me about 20mins altogether.

if you could help with exact details it would be greatly appreciated, i have a go720 with truck on and can update that as normal but this rac naff nav is doing my head in lol

it belonds to freinds of ours and just need it more upto date, it only has a 256mb sd card in it, and i have tried to even copy the files from that to a 512mb microsd and adapter also a 4gb sdcard, but neither will boot up like the original,

when i put any other sd card in and connect to the usb, it will not show the sdcard in mycomputer, if i put the card in a reader on my pc then it shows up, could not see the tomtom.exe file in the mobile navigator folder, unless i have the wrong files,

so if you can help with all the files and patchers for this one it would be very helpful, thanks

A 4GB card won't work as it's SDHC, It needs to be a 2GB or less.

Backup files from the original card then delete them. Use the map compatibility matrix to choose a UK & IRL map for 7.4xx/7.9xx looks like 865.3259 (166MB). Then copy TomTom Files and Map to your original card, it all fits on 256MB. Rename the TomTom application to R66Navigate7.exe and activate the map.

Its important that you first get the TomTom files on the root of your SD card.

PS.
As its a WinCE compatible GPS system you can use IGo8 instead of TomTom.

some slight issues / questions please

can't adjust the clock time, looked every where but to no avail, also do i add cameras from my 720 and add them to the map the same way, what do you activate the camera files with ? on my 720 i use fast activate.

Speed cams work in the same way as your 720 and the clock will either be wrong all the time or will eventually correct itself, But it will set itself to the devices local time meaning you will need to set the time zone in the devices control panel (if accessable) and not through Tomtom, Sometimes it's easier just to turn it off.

ok thanks, i know the clock can be sync'd via the gps config screen so was stumped on this on lol

could not get camera file to activate until copy and pasting the ttnavigator.bif file into the map folder then run fastactviate, once done i pasted the file back to root overwriting the original,

whoooo hooo it now has speed cameras working lol thanks all for the help, tip top thanks.

shame about the clock though but not the end of the world after them putting up with the RAC crap nav software since 2005 lol

The clock is a problem on some devices, It's possible to use a script to set the timezone before Tomtom starts but whether Tomtom bothers to set the clock or not is another problem, Some devices like the generic "MobileNavigator" type don't seem to suffer from this problem.
