When you say stopped finding signal, Do you mean

"No GPS device!"
or
"Waiting for a valid GPS signal..."?

Go to the GPS status screen to see if there's any satellite activity happening.

At the moment i have UK&ROI v860.3126 on several devices.

waiting for signal... and whatever changed as in GPS receiver- back to other- baud rate 57600- still searching..
I'll try old maps (1BG) and new card (4gb)...
most likely I'm do something wrong

Hard reset your device to reset the GPS receiver, Are there any bars on the GPS status screen?
Leave it on outside for half an hour to download fresh NMEA data from the satellites.

This is not a map problem.

balls! fed up with this stup unit!
where I bought it- they do few other- what would you recommend as replacement?
I mean, last resort I'll ask for Garmin (appears not to bad units, but dont have more recent experience with them), but so far- after few years and many units in between- lofe TT!?
Thanks!
BTW- did as you said- nothing! bars are empty- in config circe spinning, but thats it!

also, a question (might appear extremely dumb)
If I try to install multiple maps on one card (TT 860.3126 for UK & ROI and some 860.3100 south EU) wold that be kosher?
do I need to find and download one, that would be comprehensive in one?

My local Asda is selling Binatone B350's for £50, I am considering buying one myself, It's an easy device to "modify" I also have a Navman/Mio M400 which i love although it only has 2GB storage and no card slot. It's an old one but the Navman S50 is my favourite device...

I think the GPS module may have died in your MyGuide, If it's out of warranty open it up and check if there's a small cable between the GPS receiver and the PCB, It can come off sometimes, It just pushes back on.

The reason i said to have two maps is because trying to find some remote village in the UK where the postcode is wrong usually means fighting your way past all the villages in Europe with similar names, Can get frustrating very quickly, So keep a UK map and switch to a Europe map when you need to.

Change preferences -> Manage maps -> Switch maps

You can have both on the SD card at the same time.

Thanks FatboyFun!
I'll try old stup- dog back in, but had it running today(half a day fine, after reformatting and adding new 2gb maps, but using some other file from 0.8gb EU maps) antway- it took 10min to start up, but it was fine.
not anymore!- just stopped working and thus is it! 0 of reception now, despite "looking" for sats.

regarding Navman would be possible to modd then, despite internal memory?
Had enough!- will be calling them again a bit later!

Mon Feb 28, 2011 4:55 pm

Yes the Navman is easy to mod, I have Tomtom and iGO Primo both working 100%, Be careful with unlocking though as it's easy to 'brick' I bought it on special offer but I would try to find one in the 'M' range with a card slot, Failing that Tesco have Widescreen Binatones cheap.

Mon Feb 28, 2011 5:20 pm

Its already on a way to seller!(have posted the bugger)
forgot to say, that it had booted now few times with some weird color- green almost all... but heck not looking forward to that crap ever again!
before first replacement it was failing me with grandiosity of none( freezing on autobahns in Ger etc), now all after so much effort and additional 2 sd cards+ another USB reader + twice postage + original price paid... would have rather bought TT in a first place
So dont blame me in being rather anxious in getting Binatone? would that be OK really?...
Shame about danger in locking NavMan, but it looks like its going to be the one or Garmin to be considered (from a same supplier) as dont think refund is going to be offered, unless I demand like mad and not sure as weather it would be sensible, as they do have decent prices there anw.
not 100% sure, but it appears, that I will have to go over to France next weekend and got my fingers crossed now to have any working damn unit whichever its worth having...
BTW I also still have my old Looket G8 for UK commuting (not too bad as such, but appears impossible to mod as from earlier research as it has no PC connection; maps and other data used is quite specific to that unit alone) (though obviously it would be separate topic to talk about)
Can I ask you as to see if any other units at satnaveasy would be worth to consider as replacement (up to £80 range).
Thanks in advance Fatboyfun!

appears OK without modding for some while possible?
or
the NavMan above or risking to modding some other one of those in time

???? decisions, decisions, decisions... and 100% reliance on you!

As long as you unlock the Navman with the correct tool you'll be fine, I've done loads and never had a problem, It's when people start renaming/editing files themselves the trouble starts, It has 3rd party USB drivers which are loaded WITH a preloader for the main application and NOT with Windows, So no main application = No USB connection = Brick.

Binatones are just MobileNavigator type devices with rubbish software installed, There are a few threads on here where i've helped get Tomtom running on them, It's a cheap and cheerful unit but runs almost anything very easily, I almost bought one before i got my Navman and i'm considering buying one now from Asda to replace a WinCE4.2 unit i have, Plus i know it'll be no trouble returning it to a supermarket.

Mon Feb 28, 2011 5:59 pm

Gothcha!
So it looks, like once its there I shall ask for TT or NavMan or money back as it appears, that you'd rather have Binatone, instead of Garmin.
will post back still, once I know as how it going to turn out as with them anyway.

Mon Feb 28, 2011 6:15 pm

I've never had a Garmin device so i wouldn't comment on them, But i like hacking and modifying so i prefer WinCE units as i can have two or more navigation apps on one device in case one stops working or doesn't have the address i want in it's map data, (I use my device all day everyday.)
