Recomendation For MyGuide 4228 Harware

Postby Atasas » Thu Mar 03, 2011 11:19 pm

If to access WinCE device- all of the memory is on whatever ROM- but operated by windows, if to delete those(firstly extracting required info from it or even N'lite 'ing it- all),- no hard reset should help? but windows.
ANW installing .net Frameworks 1.0 and etc for play further...

as I'm installing WinCE 5.0, totally regretting now not having Unit win USB device... Remembered! G-Parted tool- copy/clone extract reinsert full partitions options there in almost all known formats. Once partition is saved on your PC- modulate as discover all that is need from it- and reinsert (drivers) after clean Win Install.
BTW 2hrs implementing of 20mb package... just like windows(any) 98 350mb- installed 2gb etc etc...
once finished playing about, I will have a look for USB connected or even serial port enabled bricked up unit on ebay.... thus shall be 3'rd Sat unit.
activation of WinCE5.0 is peculiar matter to me (anyone would have good(full) copy of WinCE?)

Unless you have the tool to put the device into it's "Bootloader/service/flash" mode and the tool to flash the new image then all this is not possible. The most you could do without the tools is browse the windows directory, Some files within it are protected and cannot be copied.

It is not like a PC.

well I wandered... if to have allowance for Windows being replaced with windows- should not matter as what protection there is (IE using GPARTED), but my enthusiasm is regarding as for PC... tools offered by M$ (as I was playing about) where downloading drivers automatically...

Got my replacement (Garmin 255WT) like it!
Few issues though! already rung to enquire as why no EU maps came with it?- turns out few where loaded on unit itself and that was it...(just empty SD slot and no card)
well I got my SD card(4GB), did official update of maps- gooden! 8/10 from me
As nice, basic as unit is, few features are lacking as IE more predictive/suggestive search display(in case of incorrect address or else), some more customization would be handy, but such unit for a first time user- awesome!. annoyingly, when I was driving on a road- Looket G8 with iGO Primo was if anything quicker, than Garmin? despite perception..
Still happy with unit, I find it few times better, than Original MyGuide, uncluttered, but is not as what I was intending to do with it (apart from GPS navigation)- running different stuff on it.
The great think about MyGuide is easy conversion to run both iGO and TT. 8/10 for both after modding them. my last verdict on overall 6/10 as for unit out from a box for good maps, but weak hardware and silly soft on it.
Kinda safe bet to get Garmin or TT, whilst MyGuide is failure in its hardware and disaster soft ways, I got more respect towards Looket with original Soft and with iGO. 7/10 and 9/10 respectively
Completely different all , will take little longer to pick favorite.

Just put the map folder, the ttnavigator.bif and the latest autoactivate.exe on a SD card and then run autoactivate, then copy the file from the map folder which ends in .meta.dct to the map folder on the device.
