Roadcom rc300 wince4.2 to run igo??

Postby meadyyyy » Wed Mar 20, 2013 1:10 pm

hello all, bit of help to resolve getting minimal igo to run on roadcom

unit looks for RoadcomNavi.exe on sd card to run original software so did a minimal igo8 and put on new card and renamed igo.exe to RoadcomNavi.exe, when i tap gps on screen, igo starts to load but freezes on init api and goes no further, even tried a compressed igo.exe (renamed) and same thing. tried few other igo files from here and still same, this is totally baffling me, is there another way to get to run? maybe an unlock?

tried Fatboyfun basic 320x240 unlock, put launchpad on resident flash, scripts on sd card (rename menu to roadcomnavi) edited script to point to residentflash and not my flash disk also edited file in launchpad to correspond to igo and also totalcommander.

unlock launches from taping gps on main screen and can then access totalcommander so i can see whays on device, but trying to launch igo results in same freeze on INIT API, same if i try to launch from totalcommander.

trying to do this for friend at work who had his satnav stolen so only wants a basic uptodate mapping satnav and he dug this out of a draw

any help much appreciated

inside locked archive another folder, contents of which on to newly (FAT) formatted card- works fine here at the mo!
All is there, was "designed" for different unit, but if no luck- will be right ingredients for you

If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

There is a Navman device that has the same freeze at INIT API, and no matter what we tried, we could not get any version of iGO to start.
It looked like a problem with the WinCE core not being able to run executables over a certain size, and iGO's exe wouldn't compress enough to be under it.

So this issue remains unsolved!

It was the Navman ICN720 that had the problem...

http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?11668-Cant-run-iGO8-on-Navman-iCN-720

The member did say Tomtom started but kept freezing, Note that the ICN720 is a WinCE 5 device and yours is WinCE 4.2, An old version of Tomtom could work, but would be years out of date.

Other than that it's a case of trial and error...

update, solved n sorted, after a week of trying this that and the other, finally got igo running, went down licence path from chas521 reply and accumulated 16 licences and put in licence folder, then used fatboyfun 320x240 unlock with relevant editing and it runs, superb stuff from guys on site and to quote fatboyfun "its a case of trial and error":clap::clap::clap:
