You don't need all that, I trimmed it down to GPS and display, Too big a sys.txt leads to problems.

As i said before, i've never personally "upgraded" a Sony, and Sony do sometimes go out of their way to make things difficult, From searching the 'net, there doesn't appear to be any additional steps needed to unlock these devices and run other software, So it would seem that either there is some sort of hardware problem or the device needs a bit more work in the unlock which is not documented, It may be worth accessing the Volume and sounds applet in the WinCE control panel to see if any sound effects can be played.

The power button problem can usually be solved because the original software is responsible for button mapping, Like older Navmans.

I found this but I don't know what it does: NV-U93T, NV-U83, NV-U73T and NV-U53 are compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista
Download Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 or later from the Microsoft support site, if not already installed.

EDIT: Also found this:

Working perfect now and picking up GPS signal.
Switched to Primo.

Had problems with picking up GPS signal but then made change
Here are my settings. Baud and port are important but changing the source to "nmea" is what got it working for me.
Hope this helps someone

[gps]
baud=57600 ;- write "baud rate"
port=5 ;- write port
source="nmea"
set_messages="0" ;
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

Can any sounds like screen taps, etc be heard?

Add this to the top of the .mscr script...

SetVolume (255)

This sets the WinCE volume to maximum

HI, I add set volume (225), but still the same. The same stuff running perfectly on my chines device wince4.2 with voice guidence. I can hear the only sound from device is while connecting to computer(all the sound settings are up) no key sound as well.THE system is not shuting down after exiting the program, showing nav-u on screen.so I am doing reset to shutdown the device every time !!!

Fatboyfun wrote:I've no personal experience with Sony's, But i do know they run iGO 8/Primo ok, BUT you need a device specific unlock to access the GPS hardware, Once you found and installed the unlock, it's easy to get iGO working

EDIT: Because i'm nice i found the Sony unlock, And also modified it to run my SimpleLauncher app.

1, MAKE A FULL BACKUP OF YOUR DEVICE!!!
2, Rename the original nav-u folder to something else, ie, nav-u2.
3, Copy the new nav-u folder from the attached archive to the internal memory.
4, Copy your choice of navigation app to a M2 memory stick type memory card (Typical Sony!)
5, Start device and use the file explorer to point to the new navigation app executable on the card.
6, Tweak the new app to run like on your other device.

Sorry to drag up a really old thread but do you still have the modified Sony unlock and if so can you share it with me please.

Thanks in advance.
