Postby italianomale » Thu Apr 12, 2012 8:33 pm

I can't seem to find iGO R3 NAVTEQ 2011.Q4 Europe. I assume Q4 is the latest quarter? I am right in assuming that new maps are released four times per year? So Q3 which I found isn' t the latest update?

I have goggled iGO R3 NAVTEQ 2011.Q4 Europe and a lot of the links seem not to work.

Because of the recent 'troubles', links are killed faster than ever before, They do get refreshed occasionally, You can send a private message to the uploader to speed things up.

-iGo-Primo-Navteq-Europe-Q4-2011-Maps-released-2012-Torrent

Almost guaranteed to work --as long as others continue to share the download.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

thanks for the link very much appreciated. I also found a working link if you wanted it both files downloaded perfectly It took a while to find involved a lot of trial and error. It's like FBF said it's becoming increasingly difficult to find reliable working links given the current situation.

This site is amazing. The contributors and the likes of yourself and FBF are so patient, helpful and understanding, it's very much appreciated. I am IT literate, but as far as GPS goes I am learning as I go.

Would you mind just answering a question for me please? The files that FBF sent but wouldn't work were in 8 parts. He said that when all parts are downloaded, place all the parts in the same folder on your PC and extract PART ONE ONLY! The file you sent only contains two folders. One containing the maps the other containing Points of Interest. What is the difference?

Simple. In some cases, certain file hosts may have limits on file sizes. So very large files are split up into smaller pieces that the host will allow:
MapsPart1.rar, MapsPart2.rar, MapsPart3.rar, etc, etc. All of these parts are really part of a whole, and all are needed or nothing will extract correctly. So you download all the parts to the same place, then start extracting *Part1.rar, and the other parts automatically follow to recreate the original file or files.
Torrent files have no such individual file size limits to them, so once they are downloaded, you have everything. But sometimes even Torrents are split up (the poster may post both a Torrent and the same set of files with other hosting sites) in the same way.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

thank you for your reply.

I thought that would be why they were divided into a parts. I just wasn't aware that once you extracted the first part the next seven would follow.

It may sometimes depend on the utility used to do the extraction. I typically recommend WinRar since it does what needs to be done about 100% of the time, plugs itself seamlessly into Windows Explorer (and other file managers) to do a simple Drag&Drop extraction, and also is one of the few that can be depended on to correctly see into and modify the special *.zip files (data.zip, etc) without corrupting them. Other utilities with "Zip" in their name, not so much.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Ok copy everything you prepared into the SD card so that when you open the card on your computer you see SHELL.ini and the MobileNavigator folder

Put the card into the device and switch off and on then start the navigation software in the usual way

If you see the original software then you did something wrong

Is shell.ini in the root of the SD Card all by itself (not within a folder), and did you totally power off the device so that it does a full 'cold' boot when switched back on?
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.
