Which Navigation for MIPS procesor

Postby steni » Wed Sep 12, 2012 7:17 am

I have navigation LG LAN8900EKSL with RMI, MIPS32-Au13xx procesor and Windows CE 6.0.
Is there any navigations software wich will run on this platform and has good maps for West and East Europe.

As I said in the German section : have a look at Igo, Primo or Navigon for example.

The processor is the problem. Papago (Asia maps only) works on MIPS, I think. For Europe (USA?) there is Sygic 7.7. I don't know if more recent software is available.

And please: double posting pollutes the forum (http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?10904-iGO-on-MIPS-Procesor&highlight=MIPS)

Ok, was under the impression that by now all processors are supported by the major players. My bad :(

The vast majority of devices run on Arm processors, but there used to be mips and I think sh3 type processors. Applications need to be compiled for the respective processor type, You may have seen that there are now Android phones that are using Intel processors. These will require applications compiled for that processors architecture, although the orange San Diego uses a wrapper that converts the arm processor instructions to Intel in real time.

Reminds me of the 'battle' between Motorola/IBM PowerPC and Intel (or AMD) X86 on the PC. And we all know who won that war.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I am sorry but I was thought that this is not double posting, because there I was asking specialy for iGO navigations software. The answer there was that it will be very difficult to find iGO for MIPS, that is why I ask here for any other of navigations software which will work on MIPS. Noone sugest me there any other software to use.
Sorry again.

At first, I thought the same as Nabi:
'Why the heck is he posting the same thing twice?"
But from your perspective, it does make sense. Nobody could help you with specific iGo software, so you asked in a more general way.
Unfortunately, the answer is much the same, but I don't see a big issue with the second post.....as long as you don't continue to post the same in every section. I think all people that could possibly help have seen it by now.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

I also see your point now.

In case you missed it in post #3: Sygic 7.7 is released as a MIPS build (also Symbian and other OS), as is 7.5
Other GPS software that have MIPS releases:
- Route 66 Navigate7 for MIPS
- Oziexplorer
- Polnav

Though not all software I name is only intended for MIPS, nor MIPS/WinCE combination. I am aware of Sygic 7.7 Symbian, just to name one. So finding the right version could be difficult.
