Chinese Double din System "No Signal"

Chinese Double din System "No Signal"

Postby Col123 » Mon Aug 22, 2011 6:50 am

I just installed a Chinese double din unit, got all working on the bench before installing to test, but once installed, GPS says "No Signal" on screen, do not even get GPS start up screen which is Win CE 6.0, ther is no way to go into Win CE to check settings that I know of.
Any solutions would be appreciated

Yup arial connected, din't think its related to the GPS, rather Win CE as I think GPS program runs off Win CE.
On bench ther was a screen for GPS setup (think this was vai Win CE), this screen is no longer ther, just a black screen with "No Signal"

Was there any difference in wiring/connections between bench and car?

WinCE does not "run" the GPS navigation software--it's just the platform on which the GPS software can run.
It's possible that, during your bench testing, you completed the initial setup of your system, and now it is trying to go to the GPS software directly, but cannot because it's not getting a signal. The 'error' screen is likely from the GPS software or menu, not from Windows.
You have a hardware or connection issue.

Thanks for the replies.

Fatboyfun: Difference in wiring is that only connected power & 1 speaker on bench, connected all else in car, tried unplugging most others in car to check, no difference.

Yurbuh Tuggly: I understand and agree, could also be a software issue / corruption I think, problem is how to re-set or even access Win CE to check software. If I could access this I could attempt re-install.
GPS software is on SD card but can only access this through Navigation scree, which is unavailable.

If something has corrupted in the internal memory then a reflash of the WinCE core would fix it unless there is a hardware problem, However getting the files required may be a problem,

Will the unit boot with no SD card?

Did you disconnect the car battery before installation, or did you wire in "live"

If this is the first attempt for the navigation program to make contact with satellites, give it some time. At least 10 minutes. Sometimes even more is required.
And is there a clear view to the sky or is the "view" blocked in any way (trees, buildings, ...) ?

Fatboyfun: The unit woks except for the Navigation site, I think this is the only part which uses Win CE, by booting I think the answer would be no as it does not go to Navigation screen, which I would assume would be booting. SD card does nothing, how it is suposed to work is you tell the navigation what path on the SD card to use.
I did not wire in live, disconnected everything after test / settup then only next mornong connected in vehicle

Nabi: Its not a case of waiting for satelites as the GPS navigation program does not start.

If Windows CE is not booting properly then a reflash might fix it unless the problem is on the internal flash drive or there's a hardware issue.

Unless there's a hard reset option there probably isn't a lot else you can do unfortunately.

You need to find the firmware files specifically for your device, if they exist. Usually you just copy them to a SD card and reboot your device. The WinCE core will be updated and reset.

Is this a Maisun unit? Are you getting no Navigation Software or No Signal? No signal sounds more like a message cming from the reverse camera than the GPS unit. Did you specify the correct path for the Nav software?

I'm having a related problem with my chinese *&^%^&*()(**& Mai-pain unit. But I believe mine is GPS Rx related. Good luck!
