Hi everyone, I'm new here. Found this forum while googling a solution to my problem, and it seems there are a lot of smart guys posting here so fingers crossed
I own a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe (LWB), and living in Qatar. My car came equipped with what I'm guessing is a Gen2 navigation head unit with Middle East maps from 2014. These maps are now outdated and completely useless, so obviously I wanted to update. The local dealership told me they cannot update the maps since my navigation system is outdated and that I have no other option but to use it as it is. This was very disappointing news as the car is only 5 years old. It's not like I can afford a new car every 5 years! I visited the Hyundai map update website and my car was not listed there so I contacted them numerous time but unfortunately got no response. I also contacted Hyundai corporate and also got no response
I tried Naviextras but its not recognizing my device's SD card. MapnSoft and other services don't provide Middle East maps.
Not sure why my car has a Gen2 navigation (WinCE, based), it seems most Hyundai Santa Fe's are equipped with the Gen4 system which is Android based. In any case, can anyone propose a solution other than ripping off this system and installing an aftermarket unit? I like the integration with the instrument cluster and don't want to lose that.
