I also encounter similar problem

Tried the G8 but get the same problem of hang on the splash screen. Figured out that the system is locked to com2 only

Open using IDA Pro, Search TEXT " setupComm " and find 02 00 00 1A change with 08 00 00 EA

Try, still no luck. Maybe you can change for me C1 B38400 and PM me the file

BTW, if i change the original file com to any other com eg com2 com3 com7, it can run. So i think it might be the Altas / MedaTek GPS issue

I think this is chip issue, need master to info the address for change the code for running on SIRF.
Please anyone can share working happyfile for Com 1 and Com2 (any baud rate).

Gonav 7 and Papago X7.1 Taiwan have similar issue when running on GPS with English OS.
Check and try using this method :

I have no problem running X7.1_TW and Gonav 7 on English OS on a Chinese PDA from with rom YF82A C1-B38400 (64mb) but cannot run the G8 with the correct COM1 but can run with any other COM.
But have tried with another model with Chinese rom YF84 C1-B38400 (128mb) and it run perfectly. All running on ce6

sorry what I mean is gonav 8 and x7.1 must using/support chinese font. Gonav 7 no problem. For working other then com 2 find “setupcomm” on ida pro and change 02 00 00 1A into 08 00 00 EA.

Sometime user here will make mistake because PPG have alot of the version.......

I have no problem with X7.1, mine is X7.1_TW_10Q309V1.0_Sept2010 and run well in my YF Atlas wince 6 128mb.
Starting from Gonav G8 (DT-100), then V600_7_TW_20100608 that have similar problem,
I can resolve in X5.5 since someone has the address to locate and change the code for sirf, 02 00 00 1A to 08 00 00 EA.
Can tou inform the detail how to get address by using IDApro, try to search "setcomm" , and get many setcomm, but where is 02 00 00 1A, still noluck.

When search road/poi it will give error if you use other maps. If installed with G8 original TW Maps it works

Can you upload your X7.1 ( keep "save" folder and maps header on Maps file) here for test in other GPS device? Are you using SS GPS?
When you resolve problem in X5.5 T600, did you do same way on Gonav 8? Check again your exe X5.5 on IDA Pro on that address that you could resolve on COM issue.
