Hi Monters GPS,

Have been reading and following your threads and here is my situation:

I have a Papago R6600 (Windows CE 6.0 and running on software v7.1).

As I am currently using the device in Bangkok, I found its map to be outdated and not very accurate.

I would like your help on the following:

  • Be able to check what is the COM & BAUD values of this device (I have tried using both AutoDetectGPS and GPSScan but they are not working for me)
  • Update the device to latest software, v8.5?
  • Update to the latest Thailand, Singapore & Indonesia Maps.

Thank you for all your help provided in the forum!
PS: Re-posting from another thread

* Your R6600 is it original X7.1 version?
* If your device is Original set, you can go to M3 service centre to get free upgrade to latest X8.5 version software.
* To run test for (AutoDetectGPS and GPSScan), you may need to edit your R6600 shell.ini file to run it!

Hi Monster,
Could I have the link of Papago 8.5 for com1, baud rate 4800 ?
Screen 480 x 272.

Beforehand, I already installed it, but it did not work. After I click the program, the welcome screen shows up with Papago sound, but then it disappears and the screen goes back to earlier screen. Can you advise why?
(Just for yr info, this is why I erased the program; but now I want to re-install it). Thank you.

Hi Monster, yes my R6600 is original but M3 service center in Thailand is charging me fees and asking for 3 days just for the upgrade which I am unhappy about. Currently exchanging mails with them at the moment.

Can I have the files for X8.5 (OEM?) please, as I rather do the upgrade myself then driving there, pay them the money and wait for three days.

PAPAGO R6600 OEM (480x272)
BaudRate = 115200
Port = COM4:
Thailand & Singapore Maps

Thank you.

Bro,

Please double check your baudrate! 115200 is not correct baudrate!

What is the default COM & Baudrate for an EAM PAPAGO R6600?

Quite lost as I could not find any shell.ini file, can I just ignore that and use the default values for all its files?

For R6600, you need to run papago software first.....after launch then only connect your device to pc as Masstorage mode!

Once masstorage mode are active only you will saw your device diskdrive on your pc, and then only you will saw the shell.ini or other xxx.ini file.
