A note about "Versions"
Spoiler: Show
There are, floating around on various other GPS-forum-type sites, a number of downloads that claim to be "Newer Versions" of Primo2. All start with 9.6.5 and have a variety of other numbers after that, and a variety of "Build Dates". Some are legitimate versions, and some are obvious fakes (it is not that hard to change version numbers/dates to show whatever somebody wants). A few I have seen even show some build number and date IN THE FUTURE by months. There is absolutely no way NNG would issue a release with a future date (unless it may be some kind of experimental internal build that would expire on a certain date). If anything, official releases lag behind the current calendar date by weeks or even several months. The ones that may be legitimate versions are often nothing special...just a build/date produced for a specific hardware manufacturer. Essentially the same as every other "9.6.5.x" build, but sometimes customized with other components (data.zip, etc) to run on specific hardware---such as limiting resolution choices, custom logos and splash screens, etc. As one who has tried every legitimate build available, I can tell you that, so far, there is NO DIFFERENCE IN OPERATION AT ALL between any given "9.6.5" build and any other "9.6.5" build. None at all. No new features. Nothing. Don't fall for the hype. If the build you have is already a "9.6.5" build...starting from October 2011 to the current date...there is NO LOGICAL REASON to upgrade or change anything. You are already current!
If this situation ever changes (which would likely be a build number such as "9.7.x.x"), you will find out about it here...including any benefits to upgrading.

You may need to refresh page after pressing Thanks Button.

You must have a Torrent Client installed and setup on your computer.

Magnet link...copy/paste into your Torrent Client:
Hidden text: ON
[Please Register or Login to download file]

OR
Second Magnet link...a single RAR file download with everything included:
Hidden text: ON
[Please Register or Login to download file]

Depending what is chosen to download in the full Torrent, the size will vary. EVERYTHING downloaded will equal about 1.38 GB.

ONLY the Primo 2 Program will equal about 240 MB.

Unzip the small Torrent File on your computer (if not using Magnet Links). Open your installed Torrent Client and open the *.torrent file in it, drag and drop the *.torrent file to it, etc--however your Torrent Client opens a Torrent File.
If you want to pick and choose what you want to download (for example; to exclude TTS Voices that you don't want or need), when your client opens the downloaded *.torrent file, go to FILES (how you do this varies with the Torrent Client you have installed on your PC), and UNCHECK what you don't want to download. For example, in the folder TTS Voices, uncheck any language Voice Files that you don't want. Be sure NOT to uncheck anything in the main Primo2 folder unless you really know what you are doing.
Then proceed to start the download in your Torrent Client.
Your download speed will be determined by how many other people are downloading/sharing the file(s) at the time.

PS. This Torrent was created and seeded by ME and is 100% perfectly safe to download and use.

Special note about 'missing folders'.
Some Torrent clients and other utilities may have a tendency to strip out empty folders (they sometimes assume an empty folder is not significant). For this reason you may find that some standard folders...particularly some subfolders in the /Content folder...are missing. Don't panic. Just create them as you need them.
As an example, here is a list of common folders under
Primo2/Content/:
/BUILDING
/CAR
/DEM
/global_cfg
/histspeed
/LANG
/MAP
/PHONEME
/POI
/SCHEME
/Skin
/SPEEDCAM
/tmc
/VOICE
/vr_vde

You can create any that may be missing and leave them empty, or just create the ones missing that you need as you add the specific content....it makes no difference to the operation of Primo (an empty folder is just ignored anyway).
UPPER or lower case to any folders also makes no difference.

Primo Signal Fix:
Some PDA/Smartphones experience GPS signal loss issues with Primo 1.2/2.0.
If you find this to be a problem on your device, you can try the attached:

4084

Unzip on your computer, copy the files/folders as shown onto your device/SD Card, and add to sys.txt the lines shown.
Restart the device, start Primo, and see if this fixes your issue.
Future skins may have this fix built in.

Please note that this manual fix is only for PDAs and Smartphones that experience erratic GPS signal problems. If you are not running Primo on a smartphone or PDA, and/or not experiencing signal issues, this fix is not for you. Not only may it not improve anything on other GPS devices, it could make things substantially worse if used incorrectly.

General Program installation instructions:--TBM
Spoiler: Show
For basic installation (not including any optional components), after the full download, do these steps:
1) Copy entire Primo2 Folder to your device or SD Card..only the Primo2 folder, not the entire downloaded container folder (iGo-Primo_2). Important: Do not 'unzip' or otherwise modify any files or folders within the Primo2 folder...just copy the whole thing as it is.
2) Primo2.exe in the Primo2 folder starts the program on your device.
2a) The Primo2 folder and/or the Primo2.exe can be renamed to whatever your device or device menu system would prefer in order to run.

European full color POI Add-On Packs Updated Specifically for Primo 2.x:--TBM

Information, Instructions, Download
Spoiler: Show
If you had previously downloaded the POI Packs (which were adapted from a previous Primo version), it might be wise to download these new packs (April 7, 2012) and replace what you have to avoid errors.
----------------
Full color Icon/Logo POIs for most of Europe. No more boring blue or black circles. Instantly identify your favorite places and businesses by their familiar logo.

Many thanks to Stancy for his work on compiling this POI collection.

Download the correct pack for your resolution (either 480x272 OR 800x480).

Extract the RAR file on your PC. RAR password = http://www.navitotal.com
Inside the Size Folder you will see a folder named ui_igo9. Copy everything inside this ui_igo9 folder to a folder of the same name in your main Primo2 folder...{Primo2}/UI_IGO9/ on your device or SD Card. If the UI_IGO9 folder does not already exist under {Primo}, just copy the entire UI_IGO9 folder from the download to there...so it is on the same level as Content, License, Save, branding.zip, data.zip, and anything else that is directly inside the main PRIMO2 folder.

Start Primo2, go to Settings (from Start Screen, More/Settings), and then Map Settings. Scroll to Place Markers and tap. You can select an entire category by tapping the checkbox, or narrow down to specific items by tapping the Main Category name, and then making specific choices.
When done making your selections, keep tapping Back until you are where you started. Your icon/POI selections will now appear on the map screen as you travel.

Press the Thanks button to see the links.

You may need to refresh page after pressing Thanks Button.

480x272 pack (9.03 MB Download):
Hidden text: ON
[Please Register or Login to download file]

800x480 pack (24.68 MB Download):
Hidden text: ON
[Please Register or Login to download file]

--------------
An additional benefit of using these packs in combination with the diMka skin for Primo2, is that you will have an additional "Properties" selection for each individual POI in the Place Markers settings so that you can set the displayed map screen icon for it to any of the vast array of choices contained in the pack.

How to easily and safely add custom loading (Startup) AND exiting (Shutdown) screens to Primo2--TBM

One of the 'features' lost along the way in Primo is the ability to have both a separate loading AND exiting screen (Primo 2 and others ignore 'exiting.bmp').
Now you can have both and customize them as you please without having to edit either branding.zip or data.zip...just follow the steps below.

1) Create your custom loading.bmp (the Startup Screen) and exiting.bmp (the Shutdown Screen). Both must be exactly (in pixels) the size of your screen resolution (800x480, 480x272, 320x240, etc). You can use any graphics editor you like, but the resulting images must be sized precisely to your resolution size, be in 24 bit color depth, and saved as standard "Windows" bmp format. In KB size, the images must be exactly this: 320x240 = 225 KB, 480x272 = 382 KB, 800x480 = 1.09 MB. If, after creating/editing/saving, your files are not these KB sizes, you have done something wrong and must start again.

2) Rename your saved loading.bmp to loading.jpg...note: do NOT convert the image to JPG, just rename the file!
2a)Rename your saved exiting.bmp to loading.bmp.

3) Go to your main {Primo2} folder on your device or SD card.
3a) If there is not already a folder in the root named UI_IGO9, create it...upper or lower case is irrelevant.
3b) Inside the ui_igo9 folder should be a folder with your resolution size (480_272, 800_480, or 320_240). If this subfolder is not already present, create it...the underscore "_" between the numbers is significant, and no spaces. Inside the resolution size folder should be a subfolder named skin_night...if this subfolder does not exist, create it.
3c) The resulting folder structure should look like this:
Primo2 (or whatever your main Primo folder is named)
>ui_igo9
>>480_272 (or whatever your resolution is)
>>>skin_night

4) Copy your saved loading.jpg and loading.bmp files to both the 480_272 (or whatever your resolution is) and the skin_night subfolders.

4x) I feel a question coming: Can you have separate DAY and NIGHT loading/exiting screens?
As a matter of fact, you can. If you guessed to put any special NIGHT screens in the skin_night subfolder (using the same names :loading.jpg and loading.bmp), you would be correct.

5) Open your existing sys.txt file in a plain text editor and add these lines:
[loading]
loading_bmp="loading.jpg"

5a) Save your sys.txt.

6) Start Primo, you should see your new loading screen.
7) Exit Primo, you should see your new exiting screen.

If you don't see your new custom screens (either and both), you have done something wrong...review the steps.
BIG 'OL IMPORTANT PS:
I use, have tested, and/or can recommend any and all of the modifications or add-ons listed above here and other places I post or talk about Primo2. They all work with 'my' torrent download of Primo2. Will they all (or any?) work with some other distribution of Primo2?
Beats me! You are on your own if you try.
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.

Hello I already got the file thanks a lot, but I seem to get an error when I run the program during the day.
I get the following error
"Failed to open file:
Telepule.spr exiting application"
Can you please help me to figure out what is going on.
When I run the application at night I don't seem to get any issues like that.
Which file do I have to modify or eliminate.

What scheme are you using? Or a skin?
In any scheme.zip is a file color.ini, which holds the line
settlements="gfx/telepules.spr"

where the gfx folder is in data.zip .

So disable the command in the color.ini or pick another scheme.

The original package from post #2 did not include a skin.
Are we talking about "Telepule.spr" or "Telepules.spr"?
The "Telepules.spr" can be found in the data.zip file, under gfx folder. You need to copy it from there to the sub-folders day/night.
I think you need to copy "Telepules.bmp" as well.
Take a look at the link below to see the technique how to do it:

Or would changing that line to

not help ?
