Your exiting maps should work fine - unless you were running a REALLY old version of iGo8... If you were running iGo 8.3.x, then the maps will work fine.

I would just try with your existing maps/pois first. If you have issues, let me know and I'll see if I can help you get some newer maps.

I just opened the "crach file" on the SD card, the one that came pre installed....

Could this be something?

"WinCE CallStack snapshot (function names unknown - map file \SDMMC\igo8\iGO8.map not found):"

Actually, that error is "normal". It's always there and can be ignored. However, if you post the contents of the rest of the crash file, it might help. My guess is that it's some sort of Access violation error, which doesn't really tell us much, but some of the other contents of the crash file might help. It's also possible that the crash file contains data from old crashes. Should probably check the date on the crash file to see if it's current data. And like I said, post the last crash from the crash file.

Although, at this point it probably doesn't really matter the exact cause since we're just setting everything up from scratch. Plus, you'll have Primo now, which is nicer than iGo 8 anyway...

Yes, you downloaded iGo Primo, instead of iGo 8. It's significantly different than iGo 8. iGo Primo is the successor to iGo 8 (basically, it's iGo 9). Initially, I was reluctant to upgrade to iGo Primo from iGo 8, but I much prefer Primo. It's more powerful and has a lot of features that iGo 8 did not. Although, it also requires more RAM and CPU than iGo8 (iGo 8 is a little faster - animation is a little smoother, etc).

It looks like your unit has enough RAM to support iGo Primo, so I'd try it out if I were you. If it doesn't work for some reason or you decide that you liked iGo 8 better, we can always go back to iGO 8 (I have some versions I can share with you).

Since you were running iGo 8.3.4, the maps you used for iGo 8 will also work with iGo Primo.

I honestly can't tell what the issue was from that crash log. I suspect it had issues reading or writing to the SD card for some reason. Hopefully, it was just an SD card issue and not an issue with the SD card reader in your GPS unit. We'll know soon enough though. :-)

Hehe :)
At this point i just want my gps to work, i noticed that my computer wants to search my device for "problems with files" when i plug the gps to the USB...?!

Do you have any better versions for me then the one i just downloaded?
As i said, i just want the gps to work with the USA map...i really dont care for all the extra functions, i never use them anyway..

No, the version you downloaded is my preferred version (9.6.13.405512). Some of the features are really useful - such as the little icon on the screen when you are on the highway - when you press it, it shows you how far until the next exit and what gas, food and service stations are available at that exit. Stuff like that. And Primo just looks better graphically (in my opinion).

If Windows is telling you that it detected an issue with your SD card and want's to check it, that means that there is some corruption on the card. That will all go away when you format it though.

Also, make sure to "eject" the SD card from windows (right click on the SD card drive letter and click Eject) before you remove it - that alone can cause corruption if you don't do that.

Do i need to do anything with the GPS device itself?
Or will it automaticly start the program when i insert the SD card?

Re: Please Need Help!! Application data is missing!!!!IGO8

Sat Jun 11, 2016 6:51 pm

You just need to make sure that the iGo executable (.exe file) is named the same as it was in iGo8 (your GPS device is looking for that .exe name). Also, make sure to use the Primo executable with the _WD filename. The other one is for Chinese maps only.

if you want to send me the nng\save\favorites.dat file, I can get whichever favorites you want out of it. Send it to "[email protected]", along with whatever favorite you want the data for.

What if i copy it directly to the device internal storage?
Is there any difference?

Ok, maybe you downloaded a different file than I thought. I thought that you were downloading the version of Primo that I shared in this post:

http://www.navitotal.com/viewtopic.php?p=150210#p150210

It has 2 executables in it, "MobileNavigator_9.6.13.405512CN.exe" and "MobileNavigator_9.6.13.405512WD.exe".

But regardless, let's not worry about that for now...

We have one of the following problems right now:

1. Your GPS device is not able to read the SD card (bad SD card reader?)
2. Your GPS device is trying to run an executable that doesn't exist (or that is in a different location than it's expecting).

It's really hard to troubleshoot without knowing the exact GPS device you have. Does the GPS device allow you to configure the executable name to run anywhere? Also, can you please confirm exactly where the igo8.exe executable is on the SD card? Would be very helpful to see the contents of your SD card....

Oh - I almost forgot - make sure you are using the sys.txt file from your original SD card - it may contain info needed to make it work on your device.

You will, however, have to remove the line skin="ui_igo8" line since we're not running iGo8 anymore. I think the rest of the lines are OK for Primo.
