I haven't been able to get iGO 8 to boot, so the issue is not with the skin at this stage.

The start sequence is something like resolution- then license (or the other way around) then the boot screen and the procedure goes on.
So either the license isn't valid (unlikely) or the data.zip does not support your resolution. Hence, both events not show boot screen.
Are you sure the program is IGO8.3 for WinCe devices and the OS is WinCE 5 or 6?

@katastrofe - Yes too both.
Definitely WinCE5 and the iGO I got from a Chas521 post.
I appreciate the assistance, and will have a good look at it over the holidays.
No doubt the problem is the interface between the keyboard and the chair, or else what I used to call an ID10T error!!
Cheers

Before you do anything else : delete the save folder. If there is any. That folder holds the last known settings and IGO does use that folder to start up. That is why is recommended to always exit the program by the software exit button within the program. The last thing that IGO does on exit is save its settings. (unless powered off the device).. By deleting that folder, you prevent using wrong (older) settings to be used and cause crashes.

Actually, let me step back a little and ask this... Have you every had iGo8 running successfully on this device or it this a completely new "installation"?
If it was running successfully before, what changed that caused it to stop working?

I don't believe that this in entirely true. On my 2DIN head-unit, I never exit iGo and all of my setting changes still get saved properly - so it can't be writing the settings changes only when you exit iGo. I've found that it writes the changes as soon as you make the changes - at least on my 2DIN unit.
I know there is some "debate" about whether or not you need to exit iGo, but on the 2DIN radio I use (a Rosen DS-GM1010-P11), the manufacturer even specifically *disables* the exit button completely on the version of Primo that comes with the unit - so you couldn't exit iGo if you wanted to. While I'm not using the version that came with it, I still never actually exit iGo before I turn off my car - and I've never had any issues whatsoever.
I'm not sure if the car head-units handle something differently or what, but turning the car off without exiting iGo first has never caused any issues for me - and obviously, the manufacturer wouldn't specifically disable the exit button if turning it off without exiting would cause problems. iGo definitely does have to restart from scratch every time I start the car (it doesn't just go into "sleep" mode or anything).
I don't know of any automotive GPS application where you have to exit the application before turning off your car...

Good for you, but not every device etc.
My 2cts?
1. You don't have to exit IGO/Primo trough the exit button every time, as long as your initial settings were saved at least once.
Don't complain when your other settings (or the last routes) aren't saved.
2. When I had a dollar for every post on this and other forums where exiting the program via power off was the issue, I indeed would not be rich. However, it's Christmas eve and my diner in a fancy restaurant would be copious with everything included, and all paid by these dollars for me and my guests
Merry Christmas !!!

Hi all
This is a new installation on a unit that came with Primo.
Had a quick look, and both branding.zip and data.zip did not have my resolution, so will be downloading new ones to try tomorrow.
Christmas Day here today, so it's of for food, family and good times.
Merry Christmas to all!
Cheers

I've been using Primo 2.4 for about a month now. Booted iGo 8 up and there is no way I can go back to iGO 8... Primo is just so much nicer graphically and functionally... In my opinion, that is! :-)

Update - I got the unit to boot so I guess it was the branding and data zip files.
Set it up, selected kikker skin and went for a drive.
As jtrotsky mentioned, Primo is a lot nicer, so will stay with that one, and pass the (now working) iGo on to a family member who doesn't think they need one.
Thanks again for everyone's help.
Best wishes for the Festive Season, and I hope 2016 brings joy and happiness to you and your families, wherever on this remarkable planet you are.
Cheers

Man, someone is busting my balls about ANYTHING that I share! Just got a DMCA notice from Dropbox for the Kikker skin I shared above!?!?! It's not illegal to share skins for iGo is it??? I filed an "appeal" - we'll see what happens...
Mon Dec 28, 2015 3:39 pm
AFAIK skinning is legal. I never heard or read there is a copyright on kikker or any other skin.
Mon Dec 28, 2015 4:09 pm
I just noticed that it's actually NNG themselves that filed the DMCA "infringement" to Dropbox... I've never heard of a skin being copyrighted material! :-) We'll see what Dropbox does since I've "appealed" it. Unbelievable.
Mon Dec 28, 2015 4:46 pm
How does NNG knows about your dropbox ?
Why does NNG complain about something they don't own the (copy)rights, they don't sell and is about 7 years old?
Mon Dec 28, 2015 6:53 pm
I'm assuming that they monitor these boards and saw the Kikker skin link that I posted earlier in this thread... I could understand it if it contained maps or even the program itself - but it does not! It's just an iGo 8 skin - nothing else. Ridiculous. The complaint was from NNG Budapest!
