Help with Navigon GPS settings

Sat Aug 03, 2013 11:08 pm

I need some help with Navigon GPS settings.
I have Navigon 7.4.3 running very well on my old car navigation system.
I used to get GPS signal instantly.
I did upgrade my system with new one, and now I can not get GPS signal.
I know the GPS port number and the baud rate, and I did change them in: "UserSettings.XML", "UserSettings.old", "UserSettings.default" and "CoreConfig".
Still not any GPS signal. IGo Primo working without problems. I get GPS signal instantly.
Are there other settings I have to change?

I will be very thankful, if you can help me.
Has "device.xml" something to do with GPS reception?
I suspect it, but I'm not sure.

Hi seal777,

I don't think there is something wrong with the my gps antenna. In the tool interface of the unit I can see the status of gps reception, and I have at least 7 satelites. And Primo 2.4 working flawless.
"CoreConfig" has the right settings:

[Default Sensor Gps Serial]
ConnectionType=1
Port=2
BaudRate=9600
TimeOut=5

Hi,
This settings are in Navigon : "Coreconfig.ini", "UserSettings.xml and "UserSettings.default". Primo has exactly the same port and baudrate in "sys.txt" file.

[gps]
port=2
baud=9600
source="nmea"

Primo is working whitout any problems, getting satellites instantly.
I did manage to run Sygic, and I get satellite connection too, with the same settings.

When I'm experimenting with different port values in Navigon settings, and I did changed the port number to 3, in Navigon-Options-GPS status I can see : "satellites -1". It's odd, because how it can be minus 1 satellite? Otherwise with other port numbers it's allways :"satellites 0"

It drives me crazy, because theoretically Navigon should get satellite connection,
but it doesn't.

In some cases if you look to the GPS signal bars in Navigon you don,t
noticed them but there is GPS reception.

To know certainly that you receive GPS the screen from tomtom changed
from Grey to colour.
This means that you have GPS reception.

Hello,

I did try with four different baud rates : 4800,19200,38400 and 57600. No gps fix.
Reset to factory settings. The same result.

holyhead, I'm looking in "options - GPS status", where I can see how many satellites are, and there is empty .
And if there is gps fix, when I tap on "Show map", I must see my current position.
When I starting navigation to a destination I get message "Waiting for GPS-signal"
I'm open for any other suggestions. It has to be some way to get gps fix.

Good Morning!
send me a copy from Settings files. Thanks!

That is not what i try to explane. I don,t see satellkites either (in some cases you don,t see theme but in the right upper corner I see the time and a small running icon.
That means that I receive a GPS signal. In the left site I see the coordinates where I am.
It take a while before you got a signal but if there is time in the rigt upper corner and the icon is running it must be allright.

563156325633Hi seal777,

Here are copies of :CoreConfig.ini, UserSettings.default and UserSettings.xml.
I think there are crucial for gps reception.
Tell me if you have to use other files.

Hé, plamen...

Did you find a solution for your problem?
I have the same device as you.
An A8 shipset s100.
No GPS signal with navigon.
Igo primo works without problems.
