Hello!

I don't know if this is the correct forum but I will give it a try. I'm wondering if it is possible to upgrade a Garmin Foretrex 601 with the firmware of the Foretrex 701 with Applied Ballistics. A while ago Applied Ballistics provided the GUPDATE.GCD as free download but now the only way to upgrade is with the software Garmin Express.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

You edited your post, leaving us to guess what you want.It does look like the 601 & 701 share the same firmware, but elements are for the Foretrex 701 only

1) To download the region file used by WebUpdater, copy and paste this link into your browser
on computer #1:

2) Bring Foretrex601_701_WebUpdater__390.gcd to computer #2 where your device is attached.

3a) Then you can drag-and-drop Foretrex601_701_WebUpdater__390.gcd onto the WebUpdater icon on your desktop.

If you are looking for a way to make the Garmin Foretrex 601 ARM Firmware into a 701 Firmware enabling ballistics features I'll leave it to others to help
