Garmin XT 5.52 (Garmin Asus M10) for WINCE 6 (800x480)

Postby spursindonesia » Wed Nov 09, 2011 6:31 pm

OK guys, i've tried this software, and it successfully run, BUT with many -what i think as- abnormalities.

My device: YF PF08 Sirf IV res 800x480 4 GB ROM, and an internal storage named SDMMC

The result goes like this:

1. The software can run, but only from outside original YF launcher (i got it running under MioPocket Mini using Total Commander CE). With YF launcher, either using the GPS short cut or favorite short cut, the application simply crashes, with error sound in the background, and nothing coming off the screen.

2. When the application does run, i find some abnormalities such as:
- The position of tools icon, exit icon, and online service icon, went to the center of the screen, super imposing the where to icon and view map icon
- No settings feature (and icon) in the tools section

3. BUT, the application actually WORKS, after sometime, it locks the signal and i get position

4. WEIRD thing is, i HAVE NOT put any Indonesian map into the application folder, but the application shows Indonesia map in it. Is the map supplied Indonesia's one ? I really can't figure it out. When i checked the data management, it showed Nav_2 something and base map, but the Indonesian map in the application is quite accurate and comprehensive, it looks like a TeleAtlas one. I searched for the POIs, like restaurant, and the list was there.

5. The application resolution size (perhaps) is not 800x480, because it was cropped on the upper side. But the cropped area matches the border tab of the Total Commander CE or Windows Explorer, so that might be the culprit of the cropped resolution problem. BUT, when i view the map, it doesn't get cropped, weird eh ?? ....

Perhaps i should mention that i do have some Indonesian maps, but they're stored in other folders (though located in the SDMMC as well). Those maps aren't listed in the data management, so unless Garmin application can use unlisted map outside ones that actually listed in it, i don't think they're utilised in the first place.

My impression regarding this version, from the limited experience in running it, it clearly (somewhat) smoother and more responsive compared to previous version, especially in rendering the map (even in 800x480 resolution). This baby has potential, i sincerely hope some of the masters out there can polish it so it can be a fully working and near bug free version like it predecessors.

Regards. :)

EDIT: My PNA uses COM 1 with any baudrate, the Indonesian map i got are TeleAtlas 02.10 and Navigasi.net 2.15, located in a folder named Garmin_Navitotal. The imagery is rather perfect, no garbled display, just the icon positioning and cropped area problems.

Hi Spurs,

What OS you use? WinCE6

Try help icon [?] upper right.....see what result, some people said setting can be check from here.

Map file under "SYSTEM" folder, check it !
GMAPBMAP.IMG ------>basemap
GMAPPROM.IMG------->Main Map
GMAPPROM2.IMG
GMAPPROM3.IMG,etc

Don't use gmapsupp.img------->rename it!

Some usefull tips.
for DEM map file use GMap tool set transparancy and only work for north view.

For device with storage card :
[Please Register or Login to download file]

For StorageCard :

Junction View not test yet but map file [ *.JCV ] should be put inside folder :\\system\JCV\

Hi mate, yupz Win CE 6.0, with 128 MB of RAM.

artfull wrote:Try help icon [?] upper right.....see what result, some people said setting can be check from here.

I've tried it, and it only change the tools icon from wrench image per usual, into a small suitcase image, LOL, going back and forth as i madly click the help icon aplenty, hehehe. :D

Nothing happen for sure, especially regarding the setting section that we're looking for. :)

Now it becomes clear, apparently the two maps provided by your download link are China City Navigator v6.5 basemap, and CN Southeastern Asia NT v6.5 ALL, which i presume including the Indonesia area as well (the map is quite big, 222.5 MB).

Thx you for your suggestion, i'll look up to it. :)

This is beyond my apprehension for the moment, i will try to understand it one bit a the time, later. Appreciate your guidance and information.

PS: saving location into favorites work, basically everything in browse map section works. Navigation certainly works. Voice command also works (female english voice).

First major development in Garmin for quite a while.!!!!

Several bugs that need addressing.

1.As already observed, can't launch with embedded launcher????

2.Does not have an inbuilt keyboard - when you try to do a destination search it only gives you the windows ce keyboard which is sooo small on 800x480 to be useless!!!

3.Has anyone found how to access the settings menu yet ?

Overall - runs very smooth and quick on generic Win Ce6 Chinese 2 din.

New Release Beta 2

- For SDMMC.
- Run CE6 and Run CE5 (need feed back for wince5-->not test).
- Better screen view for 480x272 eventough icon very BIG.
- There are gmapplauncher.exe for setting function, but need to fix script Set.mscr to call gmapplauncher.exe ( your contribute needed).

Link : [Please Register or Login to download file] (pass:artfull)

1. Extract on root SDMMC card.

2. Map place on
SDMMC\System\
-gmapprom.img
-gmapprom1.img ---->Main map.

3. Run_CE6.exe ---->for winCE6
Run_CE5.exe ---->for winCE5

4. Script has been add with run explorer.exe

5. Junction view NOT support but yes for TTS. --->get it from previous post.

To reduce ICON need to modify *.GIR ----->your effort needed to modify it.
-----[Please Register or Login to download file] --------

Thanks to xiongtang-2 for hard work.

Extract all folder into ROOT sdmmc.
\sdmmc\1 ------> save, record last setting or favorite
\sdmmc\Garmin -------> run from here
\sdmmc\POI -------> put *.gpi here
\sdmmc\GPX
\sdmmc\System -------->Map file here. gmapbmap, gmapprom.img, gmapprom1.img
\sdmmc\Vehicle
\sdmmc\Voice

Run from \sdmmc\garmin\Run_CE6.exe or Run_CE5.exe
