Garmin Mobile XT CE for Chinanavi with 800x480

Postby Paleskin » Thu Mar 10, 2011 4:38 am

Ummm, there is a minor flaw when displaying in the 480x272 resolution, the first digit in the distance indicator on the upper left corner is being cut in half, any chance to fix it ? maybe returning the res into 480x272 ? Can u teach me how to do it ?

If installed correctly on a good device it will work.
However there are several device on which Garmin won't work at all.
Without further details it will be impossible to give you a good advice.

Okay, sorry for the lack of info. My HU's specs are as follows:

OS: Microsoft Windows CE 5.0
CPU: Samsung IC S3C2451 533MHz
SDRAM: 64Mb
NAND Flash: 64Mb
GPS Model: Sirf3 Star III
Resolution: 800x480
Dual Zone Enabled

I know that it can run Garmin because I have tried another download for it. Problem with that one is I can't get past the activation. Even though I made a sw.unl file for it already, it still won't accept it.

Another stupid question though, how do I know the label of my SD card?

Sorry for the trouble and thanks.

Dears Downunder35 and Sucro.
Do you remenber that time ago I asked because I set the time of the radio, but in that part of the navi, navigation program (garmin xt) takes the system time, eleven hours more, which has nothing to do with real (GTM -3) and therefore does not work automatic switching day / night in the browser.
Reading about it, I´ve noticed that it´s necessary the add to the script Garmin.msrc that it is in the folder RunGMXT, these lines:

Errorlevel("warn")

RegWriteBinary("HKLM","Time","TimeZoneInformation","20feffff41007200670065006e00740069006e00610020005300740061006e0064006100720064002000540069006d00650000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000002d4efd560f59635bf665f4950000000064006c006c002c002300330033003000380030000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000c4ffffff") this in only one line

#Show Taskbar
Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"TaskbarShow.exe")

#message("time sync'd")
Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"GPSTimeSync.exe")

#Hide Taskbar
Run(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"TaskbarHide.exe")
MkDir("\Garmin")

#Copy previous stored settings to \Garmin
XCopy(SystemPath("ScriptPath") \ "Settings\*.*", "\Garmin", TRUE)

#Run Garmin Mobile XT.
#This script will not go to the next command before que.exe completely shut down
RunWait(SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"..\Apps\WM\que.exe")

#Save new settings back to SD Card
XCopy("\Garmin\*.*", SystemPath("ScriptPath")\"Settings", TRUE)

O.k.
But, I don´t know why ever is a but, where to put it? In the first line or the second one?. Where? I try to the the best, but I reconize that I´m only vascular surgeon.
Please if you know or you can help me and we can solve the time zone.

Just because a different Garmin runs on your device does not mine mine will too.
From your specs it looks good though.
You start the .Exe inside the folder "APPS\WM" folder.
The Label I mean is the name of the drive as it is displayed in the filemanager on the device, e.g. SDMMC,StorageCard...

I had troubles with a differnt script on my first Garmin version.
I noticed that if you add a "wait" command between the tasks the device has enough time to react and finnish the task.
Start with 1000ms between each task and if it work go down until you notice problems (after that go back to the last setting).
Especially when you copy files you have to consider the time it takes to read and write the files.

If you use the right version for your SD card than there is not much I can do about the favourites :(
After all it is a hacked WM version of the software.
Sorry for the problems but I can't find any newer version that would solve the remaining problems.

It means that there is no real CE version coming from Garmin and they don't support CE at all.
Some wise guy managed to modify the code and libraries so that it can run under CE now.
Unfortunately it seems to be impossible to get all features from the WM version to work.
Best example is the fact that there is no version available that supports more than Asian languages (and American if you call that complete).
The only versions with more features and languages are for smart phones and not compatible at all.

Dear All,

I would like to share with you my experience concerning Garmin installation and use.
For those who want to be able to choose language I think it is better to find another version of Garmin assembly. The one which is given at the beginning of the thread supports only English and two Eastern Asian languages. The files responsible for language menu are Que.exe and QueResources.dll. I noticed that Que.exe don't refer to QueResources.dll and QueResources.dll is some kind of dummy file, it is empty. Initially I started to use the presented version but as many of you I wanted to have multilanguage support for menu and voices. I found another Garmin assembly - Garmin Mobile XT for Win CE 5 v 5.00.20w. I installed it and started testing it. When I tried to access some of the menu the Garmin program was terminated and the error was generated:

ERROR: Assert failed at CDP_StaticListField.cpp : 646 in Garmin Mobile XT with error 0

Some kind of solution I found in one Russian site. You must ad or change Win CE registry. There must be a record in registry as follows:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Display\GPE, LogicalPixelsX = 128
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Display\GPE, LogicalPixelsY = 128

I didn't have the "Display" folder with "GPE" subfolder at all and added it with respective registry records further. To do that I used WinCE Registry Editor. It could be found easily in the net. It is freeware. For those who speaks Russian see here: [Please Register or Login to download file] but it could be helpful for everyone. Just open the page and find the screenshot where it is clearly marked what you must have in the registry. Since I made the above modifications I got no errors.

Whatever modification I made the problem with cut screen in 3D navigation mode remains. In 2D mode I have 2 grey strips on both sides of the screen i.e. not entire screen is used.

My device is GoClever 5066FMBT HD with operating system Win CE 5. The other parameters and the exact Win CE5 version I don't remember. The device is away from me at the moment. I had to install Garmin as the have the best map coverage for my country. I have installed IGO8 as well and I found it working much better than Garmin. Besides IGO menu is more user-friendly (for me) and gives more opportunities for customisation by non-professionals like me. For those who lives in Western Europe I recommend it. For Western Europe IGO has very good coverage and very particular maps.

Best regards

There are two language options available in this release, not sure if they are only for the keyboard or for the interface too.
And I don't know wether it is Thai or some other asian language as I can not read these letters at all.

What a fun thread!

I have a Rosen Entertainment GPS, DVD, Bluetooth, all in one for a Prius.

I loaded explorer and found the SD card called SD Memory by the win 5.0 OS.

I modified the Que.exe file using WnHex and changed the script files accordingly and three minor problems still exist.

I have to keep changing the keyboard to ABC to get to the English and the POI display is squished as reported in this tread. The third problem is when I select Manage My Data=> Pictures it crashes.

I had tried other copies of Garmin and they ran but crashed when POIs were selected and when the direction button, (lower right of map screen) was selected. This made them unusable since they were on the main screen and easily selected.

This copy seems pretty stable, and other than the picture selection describe above, doesn't crash.

I'm pretty happy with it actually.

Thanks to everyone who contributed.
