What do you mean?
It makes no difference if you use a SD or micro SD.

Ended up using the Garmin Storagecard Oz.7z with a few edits to get it up. (only low res on 800x480 screen but at least its working and maps are running. Next step will be to load 800x480 files one at a time till all good. Only issue is english reverts to chinese every reboot. Deal with that l.ater

The best lessons I've learned while getting a Chinese Win Ce din unit running is to:

1) Install something like gmenu or CE Device Information http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?6289-WinCE-Device-Information to allow access tools like file commander/manager to browse the internals so work out if the card is StorageCard or Storage Card or whatever as well as nandflash and resident flash contents.

2) Change one thing at a time.

3) Reboot device after each change. (some things don't change unless memory is flushed by a re-boot)

I now have IGO, Primo, N Drive, Garmin, Oziexplore all working. Next step is to get TomTom working (I have 128mb mem), I think this will involve moving some of the files to resident memory. (I have had this experience with my PPC version not running from SD)
After that memory_map, they have a few versions for win ce but have been unable to write serial file and license directory to card.

bekkerhenk wrote:Hi there,

I've got a Chinese DVD/Navigation unit in my Toyota Hilux. When i go to the "version" screen, it gives me the following details about the system:

CPU: LTA4_20110915 NORMAL
OS: FEC 6.0 core
API Ver: LT-API-Class3 -1.19 (build on Sep 15 2011 17:54:40)
MCU Ver: 0 1.16_8880_HSD6.2_BD3702_TDA7540 NK ver:110505vCH
FLASH Capacity: 89M Byte FLASH free: 22M Byte
RAM Capacty: 109M Byte RAM free: 64M Byte
GPS port: COM2 9600

I've installed "Garmin_StorageCard_800_Another way" which I downloaded from somewhere (Have been struggling so long I cannot remember where).
The thing is, the program is working 100%. Only a few bugs I hope you guys can help me with.

1st: when starting, everything is in some foreign language and you have to navigate your way to the language settings and change it to english. Everytime I go out of the program or switch the unit off, all the settings are gone and you get the foreign language once again.

2nd: When trying to navigate to an adress, the only input option is a very small keyboard (Which I think is the WinCE keyboard) and even while stationary, it's close to impossible to use.

3rd: When the unit has been switched off for a while the Navigation link (NAVI Button) does not react at all. I first have to go to the options menu, Change the Garmin directory to StorageCard/Garmin/Apps/WM/Garmin.exe and try to run it. It then gives me an audible warning sound and nothing else. I then have to go back to the options menu, change the Garmin directory to StorageCard/Garmin/Apps/WM/Que.exe. It then immediately launches when pressing the Navi button and goes to the first foreign language screen. I then change the language and voila!! Garmin is fully functional with excellent satellite reception. It's not laggy at all and I'm very impressed with it.

Only thing I'm begging from you guys now, Please help me to sort out the bugs. As soon as it's 100% sorted i'll upload the fully functional application files.

I know that these problems might have already been covered earlier in the post or in another post but i'm from South Africa and i've got a pathetic internet line speed. I'm so sick of waiting for pages to open that I've given up searching and am begging for help, PLEASE?

This is the unit I've bought: [Please Register or Login to download file]

Thanks for any help in advance.......

This problem is also with me

Just follow the instructions from 1. post,
after that go to http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?7744-Solve-your-problem-this-Garmin.MSCR-SAVE-SETTING-SAVE-POI
That should be ok.

1. was discussed and solved on the first few pages
2. if I'm not completely mistaken a user posted in this thread how to change the keyboard to the CE one that comes with your device, but it might have been with a differen Garmin version
3. I can only speak for my version, but if correctly installed and it got the first sat fix it runs fine and smooth, except for the known and posted limitations due to the hack

There is nothing to fix as I said several times already: there is no CE version from Garmin and there never will be one!
All Garmin CE versions you find on the net are based on two hacked Garmin version for WM.
If you want Garmin to run properly, get the WM version and a GPS running on WM instead of CE - a hack is only a last resort thing but usually not a perfect solution.
In case you wanna be one of the first to try a new hacked Garmin version you have to search the Chinese forums and hope someone might still be interested in providing a hack.

Wed Feb 15, 2012 1:37 pm

do you happen to have .exe for SDMMCDisk?
Thanks in advance!

Wed Feb 15, 2012 1:54 pm

Nope, but if you're desperate you can use a Hex Editor and change the Exe yourself.
Just search for the SD name and replace with yours.

How come when I start the Garmin program, it is all in chinese? Is there a way to make it defaulted to English everytime instead? My SD card directory is called SDMEM if that helps at all...I have "downunder35's" script.
