Garmin Mobile XT CE for Chinanavi with 800x480

Downloading Guidance Please

Postby arynd » Wed Jul 25, 2012 2:08 pm

I feel a bit silly asking this queson, but when I click on the links to download downunder's files (for StorageCard as an example) I am led to a download site but I see NO bottons to click to actually start the download. I see a lot of advertising for buying download services. Is it necessary to purchase some sort of membership or package to actually download the files?

Thanks for the help!

There is no such thing as a silly question! If you are referring to post #1, those are container files and require either JDownloader or Cryptload to down the file. Google is your friend. None of our downloads require ANY fee.

Thanks. I downloaded cryptload and read the cryptload thread you sent. Cryptload is now installed and working.

Next question: in message #1 of this thread downunder lists 4 links to download the proper version depending on your card name. My card name is StorageCard. When I click on the link for: "GARMIN FOR STORAGECARD" I see a window from navitotal that after a few seconds redirects me to a site called linksave.in, there I am asked to enter a captcha code, I do, and then I am sent to a page that lists the file name and size. When I click o the file name it takes me to a site called filefactory and gives me a page of sales info for buying their download services. Here I see no link for downloading the GARMIN FOR STORAGECARD FILE shown in downunder's message #1 in this thread.

I know I must be doing something simple incorrectly, but I don't know what. Can you please enlighten me as to know to get the file from the GARMIN FOR STORAGECARD link shown in message #1 of this thread onto my PC so I can then use Cryptload.

Thanks!

You just clicked on the wrong button ;)
What you got is and ad wanting you to buy a premium account.
You should have tw buttons one for high speed dowload, the other for normal - you have to use normal.
If these buttuns and pop ups are too confusing I suggest you download the DLC container from the linksave page and use that.
I never used Cryptload but for Jdownloader it is enough to copy the Linksave link into the clipboard, or to open the DLC container from the linksave site.
Hope that helps.

Thanks!

OK, I have downloaded jdownloader and installed it. I now have it running and the "Garmin for StorageCard" download is sitting in the jdownloader queue. However jdownloader continues to report that filefactory has no free slots open and a counter counts down several minutes, try to connect, and then reports again no free slots open. It then starts a new count down timer. Is this normal? Does it eventually download for free, or do I have to buy a premium package to get the download to work?

Also, does everyone need the second download for the que.com file or is it only for special cases? thanks again!!

What que.com??
FF should offer you a free download slot, mostly in "off peak hours" quicker than during the day.
If still no luck try to register at tomtest.net (free) and use the multi premium link genrator from the tool section ;)

Sorry for the typo. I meant "Que.exe". In message #1 of this thread immediately under the four links for downloading the Garmin for the four different card names there is a section about dowloading the torsten.schmitz version of "Que.exe" and a link. From ths section it wasn't clear to me if everyone needs to download that "Que.exe" using the link, or if it is only for special cases. After rereading it again, it appears to only be for people that have a problem getting one of the for versions of "Garmin for (insert one of the four different card names here)" to work.

Regarding downloading "Garmin for StorageCard" from filefactory using jdownloader, I will follow your advice and try again using tomtest.net. The jdownloader approach for getting the download from filefactory has continually tried all night without success due to the "no free slot available" issue.

Thank you for the help!

Cryptload works the same on container files as does JDownloader plus I posted the instructions on how to use it.

Thanks, I have been trying both cryptload and jdownloader without success. It seems filefactory really has few or no free slots for downloading. I guess I will have to go ahead and pay for premium membership.

Therein lies the biggest problem with container files. Megaupload used to be one of the container hosts and now that they're gone, the hosts aren't plentiful anymore and free slots are taken very fast. Filefactory wants the individual to spend money for a downloading membership so they severely limit their free slots. You can look at it this way. You're getting something for much less than if you had to pay for it to begin with. I know - it sucks!!! Did you try any other programs in the software section?

I went ahead and paid for the 24 hour premium membership for $5, and then using jdownloader, downloaded the files in seconds. Following the instructions in message #1 of this thread, I was able to install "Garmin for StorageCard" successfully in my Chinanavi JYT TS7512 running Win CE6.0. It runs fine, albeit a bit slowly. I am using the unlocked China City Navigator English Map I downloaded from this site. The one issue I have left is figuring out how to use the large CE system keyboard. I have noticed that in some cases the keyboard seems much larger that the screen so I cannot see all of the letters and numbers. I will have to read thru this thread again to see if I can find out more about this issue and how to resolve it.

Oh yes... one more minor issue: sometimes the street names appear on the screen, and sometimes they do not. I do not mean that some streets do not have names that appear, I mean the exact same streets in the exact same map locations sometimes have their names appear, but sometimes they do not appear. Any ideas on this one anybody?

Thanks to everyone here on this forum that took the time to answer my questions, and help me along with this project!!! If I can return the favor by helping anyone else based on my successful intallation, I am more than happy to do so.

Downunder35m will have to reply to your keyboard issue. Regarding the names on the maps. This is a mapmaker issue not the program - sorry. Did you try another map set if available?

The keyboard problem was discussed pretty early in the thread and there are only 2 options AFAIK.
If the build in is used the system settings must be correct, e.g. sys.txt and data.zip, using let's say 240x480pixel resolution on a big screen will work but if the native resolution of 800x600 is used the keyboard should fit with no problems.
As for the streets: I noticed similar but never cared too much about it as long I got the names I needed for navigation - it is basically the same on my TT, some streets appear while at a later stage the same streets have no name shown. Never found a good reason for it though.
