Garmin Mobile XT CE for Chinanavi with 800x480

Postby Downunder35m » Sat Sep 11, 2010 3:25 am

Well, a reset should not harm the device and clear most remains on the CE drive.
On the flash and SD you only need to look for the Garmin folder and remove it.
There might be a folder with a number on the flash too from a previou install, check if there is some Garmin related stuff in there and if you can delete it too.
After that your device should be clean and allow a fresh install of Garmin.

I tried to run this package with the IGO8 emulator that uses wince5 build 1400 (wince5core.bin). Unfortunately, it complained that que.exe is not a valid wince5 application (in russian text i believe). This is where I'm baffled because another version of the [Please Register or Login to download file] can run very well with this emulator without problems. Even the older Karagiosis 5.0.20 runs perfect with the emulator. I compared the binary que.exe (NT version) with the one in the link above with a hex editor and and found out that though they are not the same, there is only a slight variation. As people here testified that this is working good with their devices so it must be. And kudos to Downunder35m for a good work done. I'm trying to test this first with an emulator to familiarize its nuances before ordering the actual thing but somehow i'm not successful no matter what combinations of dll's am trying to experiment with. Or perhaps downunder35m has a better emulator.

The original Microsoft CE emulator has no problems at with this Garmin release.
You only need the emulator and a rom files for CE5 or CE6 depending what you want to test.

Does anyone manage to start it in english in stead of chinese?
I do realize that in steas of RunGMX/Settings now on this software is saving the setting on Save folder but i tried to copy them as i did before with the old software but the setting are not working everytime it starts on chinese and on the Garmin online menu.

I added this lines on the mscr file but is still not saving the settings
XCopy("\StorageCard\Garmin\Save\*.*","\Garmin",TRUE,TRUE)
XCopy("\Garmin\*.*","\StorageCard\Garmin\Save",TRUE,TRUE)

Thank you eeryone and let me know is someone find the solution...

PD: I have anothe device that instead of StorageCardis a SDMMC and it starts from the begining in englsh, never startd in chinese. It could be something with that?

If your SD card is labeled StarageCard than you need the correct QUE.EXE for that otherwise the settings won't be saved.
In case it is still not working try to rename the QUECE.EXE to QUE.EXE and try again - don't forget to change it in the mortscript too.

I already tried with the QUECE.EXE file but it wont load on the device.
The QUE.EXE that come with it works perfect is just that it wont save the detting so every time it starts in chinese and i cant save adresses and that kind of things it losses all the info as soon as i exit Garmin and re open it again.

Thanks in advance

If you read title of thread where is clear written Garmin Mobile xt CE , then it's clear this version is for Windows CE !!! For WM you use Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile version.

No russian version Garmin Mobile XT for Windows CE, just english and chinese. No problem, you can use google translator for translating russian to english

"Unpack the archive to a folder on your PC - feel free to add you maps and unlock codes.
Open Notepad++ and click on "Search, Find in Files".
In the following box add this :
"Find What" : SDMMC
"Replace with" : StorageCard (or whatever your SD card is called)
"Filter" : *.mscr *. xml
"Directory" : Browse for the Folder where you unpacked the archive!
Make sure you have ticked "in all sub-folders"
Click on "replace in files" and confirm.
All entries will be replaced and it should work correctly after you copied all to your SD - make sure to the folder "Garmin" otherwise it won't work properly."

you have to make these changes like is described in .mscr and .xml files!

I use a PNA with the StorageCard version myself and it works fine.
If it is not loading than please check the mortscript and change the QUE.EXE to QUECE.EXEor rename the EXE instead.
The files are identical except for the different paths - so if one version works than all other should do as well.

Hi Sucro,

Yes i did all that, an the software load perfectly, is just that it wont save the settings, do you know where it save the settings that i change when i run the program? perhaps copying that files to the StorageCard willfix it, or if anyone of you send me a copy of that files already loaded in english perhaps i dont have to change it every time i load garmin
