Back in the days PiETu (you can find his name in this forum) made some variants of MapInstall to cater for a bigger Mapinstall window (it's so clumsy small)

I know I find it easier just to use MapSource with Windows

and I will give Mapsource a try as well. After Basecamp I never used Mapsource that much because I used to make a lot of tracks and Mapsource was cumbersome to use.
