* Improved handling of invalid gpx files from devices.
* Improved handling of missing components, MapSource will now display a message indicating the missing component.
* Changed number of most recently used files from 4 to 10.
* Fixed some untranslated strings.
* Fixed an issue with saving as gpx and dxf in the Dutch localization.
* Fixed a routing issue with third party map products.
* Fixed several other routing issues.
* Fixed an issue where MapSource would not remember the icon size setting correctly.
* Fixed an issue with deleting waypoints from a route.
* Fixed a map drawing issue.
* Fixed display of ampersands on the map.
* Fixed an issue with creating waypoints on certain features.

Use just Mapsource v6.16.2 Special (Patched) if you need language files download it [Please Register or Login to download file]
Mapsource Special work directly without install original one you need only mapsource.exe and (mapsourceXXX.dll language file same directory) and you can run it anywhere

Do I have to use the patched "MapInstall" or just add the JM Key in the "Unlock Regions" screen.

And then just add any additional files I need for a specific unit (JCV, 3d etc.) ?

if you mean open mapsource ? generate key with JM and put it "Unlock Regions" tab, this work only with special version
some times you must restart mapsource after key is installed...
