Hi All
I have an old garmin etrex 10, I can´t use it because only appears message system software missing. Device have 3.4 firmware (I am in Spain).
I am trying to launch again 3.2 or 3.4 firmware but only appears Loader loading.
I cant enter also in mass storage in order try to use garmin express.
Can somebody help me?

I can see the device in Basecamp and try to update to 3.6 firmare but he can´t.

Hi, Some months ago I helped a guy with the same problem.
Solution:
Go to:

- Choose Etrex 10 in left menu
- Then choose Troubleshooting in left menu
- On the page, under the heading Troubleshooting, go to 8th bullet and click on Forced Mass Storage Mode
- Then you get to a page Recovery and there is an explanation for both Forced USB Mass Storage Mode (first try) and Forced RGN Firmware Installation (escape when previous option does not help).

Perform exactly the steps as described, if necessary try several times.

I have a problem with my Garmin etrex 10 GPS, that, when performing the system update, the operating system was damaged. I was doing the update from the garmin express application installed on my laptop, and by mistake when updating, the cable was disconnected.

And now when turning on the message "SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING" appears, and it doesn't work anymore. I have already sent an email to Garmin support. Unfortunately, they don't answer me.
I was searching on google and I can't find the updater for the etrex 10, only there I found the etrex 20, but it is not compatible.

Is there a way to reinstall the OS?

Did you read my post from June 21,2021 about the Etrex 10. I think you find the solution in that post.

Does your laptop have USB drivers installed ?

If so u could use GarminCure3 and Updater to update your device.

Thank you so much bro @bommelb, using your shared file and the Forced RGN Firmware Installation procedure I fixed my device.

VERY IMPORTANT
If your PC does not recognize the device in step 8 (in the Flash RGN section) download and install Garmin Webupdater, open the software and connect your device holding the Thumb Stick in the Up position (it will automatically switch on). Then your PC will detect your etrex 10, press next several times and you will got a finale message saying your software is broken or something like that (it does not matter) after that disconnect the etrex 10. Note: Keep the thumb stick in the up position along all this process.

Now your PC can recognize your device in step 8 (in the Flash RGN section). Follow carefully all the steps and your device will be fixed!!!
