SD card Patch Kit HWID 2269
This board requires you to be registered and logged-in to view hidden content.

Make sure your device is fully charged.
Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card into your device and power on.
"Loader" will appear on screen for a while then the device will boot up when the flash of patched firmware is complete.
Your device may reboot its self during the process just be patient.

Thank you so much- it all looks like it works perfectly!!

Final Q- is it worth installing the firmware patcher on this device? I have version 6.3 of the software downloaded from Garmin Express- the link in the post of the universal firmware patcher appears to not be working.

Thank you again and may you always have good fortune!

Your device does not need Patching to use Unlocked maps ,as you can tell as it is working with out any error message.
A rough guide is that every Automotive device before the nuvi 55 does not require Patching.

GPSMAP 66sr Firmware Update 6.10 released 07JUL23:

Changes made from version 5.70 to 6.10:
Added option to turn on/off course alerts (Setup > Routing).
Improved GPS performance in some situations.
Fixed an issue where users were unable to cancel a prompted master reset.
Fixed a possible shutdown when exiting expedition mode.
This update is being released in stages via Garmin Express, and should be available to everyone soon.

Patched update no problem.

Welcome to the forum, your device will need to be pached to use these Unlocked maps.
Confirm your HWID is 2087 by looking in your garmindevice.xml

PartNumber>006-B2087-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>460</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>nüvi 58</Description>

Hi GarmanNuvi,

thank you for your help.
I confirm that I have HWID 2087.

I read the thread you pointed to, copied the unrared archive to an empty SD card in my device, shut the device down completely and rebooted.
But then there was nothing like "Loader" on the display as described in the thread. Instead the device booted normally.
However, I have a B154.bin on the SD card now.
The device shows me that GPS firmware 6.17.07 is installed.

Does that mean the patch has been successful?

Edit:
I managed to verify myself. The patch is installed alright.
Thanks a lot for your help!
