Universal Firmware Patcher for Protected Garmin Devices

I think i did this correctly on my gpsmap 64s (HWID: 1859)
1) downloaded latest fw "GPSMAP64_WebUpdater__420.gcd"
2) Ran it through IMGPatcher which created "GPSMAP64_WebUpdater__420_Patched.gcd"
- Applied rule for MSV. No rule for GVS
3) Used RGN_Tool.exe to open patched file and saved as "gupdate.rgn"
4) Dropped "gupdate.rgn" file into Garmins webUpdater.exe and it proceeded to flash my unit.

My garmin now has the GUPDATE.GCD file so I guess it all worked.

My 2597 LMT Garmin touch screen stopped working at all after all steps .I'm screwed at end user licence agreement .Tried screen calibration but the device doen't go into that neither master reset . It is as screen is dead !! any help please

Does your device enter in mass storage - USB connection? Like this you may try to flash again a new firmware or use a cured one!

I can't find the file "UPDATER.EXE", because I only have GarminExpress.exe. My Device is Garmin nuvi 65LM. Where can I download "UPDATER.EXE"?

First of all, thank you for describing the tool.
I have some questions.
1) As my GPSMAP64s has no touch screen, I didn't find how to go into MTP-mode. Any suggestion found in Google. On the W7-PC I made visible hidden and system files and didn't see "gupdate.gcd". To be sure, I created a dummy gupdate.gcd and copied into the root of the GPS: no overwrite popup, dummy deleted.
If someone can tell how to activate MTP-mode with no-touch-screen-Garmin's?

2) In the file "HWID numbers.txt", there is no GPSMAP 64s. As workaround I did a google on "GPSMAP64_WebUpdater__430.gcd", Google found a link, I could download the 10MB file.
hint: if Garmin promotes in a few months update 4.40, just google for "GPSMAP64_WebUpdater__440.gcd"

3) For the updater procedure, I wasn't able to find a workaround. As described, I dragged the patched rgn file into updater, select USB and plugged the GPS in the USB. As there is no touch screen, I let start the GPS till the GPS is seen in Windows Explorer.
Pressing OK returns the popup: "There are no USB devices connected". Tried several times. Someone has a suggestion?

Meanwhile, I tried other things like downloading the official update 4.30, replace it with the prepared patched one (because I saw that the xml-file was also updated) and startup the device but it didn't flash.
With our without SD. Also deleting the xml file didn't help.
So finally I flashed the device with the official update. It worked.
I inserted back the SD card where the IMG's Deutschland Topo 7 and Austria Topo 4 were installed.
I zoomed in both countries till 20m and could see details.
So I can conclude that when I unlocked and patched both Topo's (one year ago), it was properly patched and it's independent from the firmware?
Anyway, thank you for your time. I will post my conclusion on the forum, maybe it's helpful for the developers.

second, when you say "Download firmware gupdate.gcd" from where do I download? Now with the fancy garmin express I can no longer download from garmin website. Or can I use the existing gupdate.gcd currently on my nuvi?

Hi. I have got a Alpha 100 with TT15 dog collar. I bought it from USA . I am living in EU. Thiis collar have a frequency problem about EU. I found the 3.10 firmware. İf can I load this firmware version to my device it will work. Because the frequeny problem starting with 3.20 version. How Can I load this firmware to my GPS and collar. Thank you.

I just bought my Garmin model SmartDrive 60 with LT update for US; however, I going for a Europe trip and would like to put the file in the memory stick which is not working (even though I downloaded unlocked image file). I would appreciate some guidance on how to unlock the map!

It seams that you need to patch your firmware in order to recognize unlocked maps
