zahadumguy wrote:Hello! Hopefully you can help me. My Nuvi failed so I just bought a Drive 51. With my Nuvi, I had swapped out
my img files when I traveled but I can't do it with the 51. There is a rudimentary map of the world and I can
enter coordinates of sites I like to visit and, while I won't drive, I don't think this will be ideal.
So, set the Mass Drive on the 51 (had to choose show RWFS as well), unlocked my map with gimgunlock 0.04 and added gmapsupp in
a few .System directory. No luck although Garmin Express loaded software and I now have GMap Tool in the Map
Update. I am too worried about swapping the gmapprom file.
So I got a SD card and reader. I can not find a gupdate.gcd file. My Garmin shows:
<Model>
<PartNumber>006-B2803-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>240</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>Garmin Drive 51</Description>
so firmware should be HWID 2803. What should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Using an SD card for supplemental maps is the safest way to add maps,if a file gets corrupted during unpacking or copying your device can freeze or go into a boot loop which can take a lot of effort to recover,a SD card can be removed .

SD Card Kit
Make sure your device is fully charged.
Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card in device and power on.
"Loader" will appear on screen for a while then the device will boot up when the flash of patched firmware is complete.
Your device may reboot its self during the process just be patient.
Your SD card will have a new file named 154.bin this is a backup of the device's non-volatile memory region and may save your device later if needed,so keep a copy of it somewhere safe.
