I think i did this correctly on my gpsmap 64s (HWID: 1859)
1) downloaded latest fw "GPSMAP64_WebUpdater__420.gcd"
2) Ran it through IMGPatcher which created "GPSMAP64_WebUpdater__420_Patched.gcd"
- Applied rule for MSV. No rule for GVS
3) Used RGN_Tool.exe to open patched file and saved as "gupdate.rgn"
4) Dropped "gupdate.rgn" file into Garmins webUpdater.exe and it proceeded to flash my unit.
My garmin now has the GUPDATE.GCD file so I guess it all worked.
When I tried this method for my
GPSMAP 64s (1859), I did see the gupdate.rgn file in the root of the Garmin folder after the update but the patched firmware was not loaded for me. I got it to work by incrementing the version by 1 during the patch process then simply renaming the patched GCD file to GUPDATE.GCD and placing it in the root. Upon starting up the device, it recognized the update and automatically applied it. Works perfectly. In other words, I didn't use RGNTool or the Updater.

Anyone has a working one?
thanks
WinRar can't extract it for some reason. I used 7zip and it worked fine.

Hello, I have Garmin 3590LMT which use to read map OK on SD card. Worked fine 20 days ago and did a firmware update. Now it is on 8.10...
I also got a new Garmin DriveLux 50 which I thought I can read the SD card and does not as well. The firmware on that one is 4.10. Can anyone guide me what I need to do to restore or enable them to read my USA and EU gmapprom.img again?
Happy to respond via PM. Thank you.

Hello - I am trying to patch a Garmin 2699. I have a couple of questions
1) Where do I download the rgntool and updater.exe files. I dont see the links for that in the post
2) Where do I get the gupdate.gcd file for using with the patcher. Do I use the file that is lying in the system directory. I know I have to delete it from there - so do I delete it from there but first copy it into the patcher directory for using. Or do I need to download this file from somewhere else?
Thanks

I will try to answer in the same order
1.You can find those tools very easy on Internet
2.Yes you copy your file from your system directory and then deleted! If you download a firmware from Internet you have to be sure that has the same HWID of your device.
