Astro430_Alpha50_350.gcd | 2442 | 350 | MAP: Yes | GMA: Yes | MSV: Weak | GVS: --- | File:

Try using this version of gimgunlock-0.04 with MapSigPatch before anything thing else, as they work for me.

Two options for your device
1.MSV: Weak - it verifies the validity of map signatures in a simple way, you can unlock an .img using gimgunlock-0.04MapSigPatch (without patching your firmware), but in case of unicode maps (CP65001) you must modify the CP value.
I download them and the CP is 1252 so this is not your problem
2. Patched Firmware :
This tool that allows you to "remove" from your device all the protections listed above, allowing the use on devices of any Unlocked Map, including NTU.

How to install WebUpdater
[Please Register or Login to download file]

Download and unpack Astro430_Alpha50_350_Patched_JNX.rar on to the PC where your device is attached. Your desktop is easy

Be sure to remove & Back up All BirdEyes images (JNX files) currently present on
your device before applying the Patch
BirdEyes images can be restored AFTER flashing new firmware

Then you can drag-and-drop Astro430_Alpha50_350_Patched_JNX.gcd onto the WebUpdater "Short cut icon" on your desktop.

Alpha 100 (HWID 1562) has 'weak' MSV protection in firmware, so can use maps with Code Page 1252 (Latin) unlocked with latest gmunlock but need fw patching to use CP 65001 (Unicode) unlocked map data although there are workarounds for that too.

The screen messages when you load incompatible maps have a sense however. "Cannot unlock maps" generally means there's at least one map tile in the data which hasn't been unlocked. "Maps are corrupt and cannot be used" message means that the device needs patched fw to use the map, or the map data has to be manipulated for a 'weak' protected device to use a map with unicode data.

Use GMapTool to check the map data. You may simply need to run gimunlock.exe again to fully unlock it if it's exclusively CP1252 data.

Ah Thanks! I checked with GMapTool and the map is indeed 65001. Where can I find the software that I need to patch? Thanks for the help :)

I just checked, I have PartNumber 006-B1562-00 Software 780. Which file and program do I need to update to use my 65001 map?

Edit, did as the comment above and used Webupdater. Map works now! :D

What is the easiest way to change the TYP file? Some paths and roads are way too small on this map compared to my old one. All help very appreciated!

Hello everybody.I used to install patched versions to garmins (in order to install custom jnx files) by the following way.installed the .exe in my computer, browse the firmware that i wanted to "make", rename it to gupdate.gcd and then drag and drop it to general storage in garmin device. Is it a safe way? I did it in about 10 devices without problem.Thank you very much.

This board requires you to be registered and logged-in to view hidden content.

Make sure your device is fully charged.
Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card in device and power on.
"Loader" will appear on screen for a while then the device will boot up when the flash of patched firmware is complete.
Your device may reboot its self during the process just be patient.

Your SD card will have a new file named 154.bin this is a backup of the device's non-volatile memory region and may save your device later if needed,so keep a copy of it somewhere safe.

I have a new question... after patching the Garmin Alpha models or the Astro models with the .jnx patch will i be able to use .jnx files from that other people downloaded from birdseye or will i just be able to use custom made .jnx files.
Thanks in advance.

Hello
do you have a solution to put topo maps on a garmin alpha 200i
PartNumber> 006-B3509-00 </PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion> 270 </SoftwareVersion>
<Description> Alpha 200i </Description>
thank you

Moderator Note
Unfortunately it looks like Drive, DriveSmart 52,55,65, zumo XT ,Alpha 200i, Montana 700 are all in the same category.
No solution as the Universal Firmware Patcher does not recognise the new format.

EchoMAP plus & UHD v13.20-13.30 Patch
This Patched Software has no reference to APAC device you have or your HWID ,Maybe someone with the same device but NOT with APAC designation can share what their HWID is and if the the same then that would be OK. Often APAC devices have different Software to accommodate regional languages.
This is the only Software download I can find ,and is the one that has been Patched, check with your local Garmin dealer if this is the correct one for your device.
