icedog101 wrote:Hi, I did put the garmin folder in the SD card.
After I put the sd card in the gps, I turned it on and upload "Loader" shows up.
Now that I have that part done, I have to put the maps on the sd card inside the garmin folder, or do I do a folder Maps outside the garmin folder.
Where do I find the 154.bin to save out side the gps just in case.

I appreciate your assistance solving my issue.

First we have to confirm if you actually Patched the device successfully ,the 154.bin created on the SD card is normally a good indictor.
Download this very small test map of Monaco 5.5 Mb, make a copy of the Garmin folder from your SD card and save it on your PC, then delete everything in the same Garmin folder, create a folder called Map in the same location as the Garmin folder (not in the Garmin folder) Unpack/unzip the Monaco.img from the winrar archive and copy it to the new Map folder. Insert the SD card into the device and turn on, if no errors, you Patched your device successfully.

@muscat

The GPSMAP 585 Plus firmware does not contain a new piracy protection, i.e. it's enough just to unlock the chart in full.

For example, you can post your g3 chart in the 'New Maps' section of this forum and I'll try to unlock it completely ;)

You can upload your chart to any file sharing service or cloud and provide links to it here. In this case, you can use multivolume archiving if necessary.

Garmin Montana 610 & Maps

Tue Jan 18, 2022 7:03 pm

Hi All,

I seem to be being a bit more of a bell-end than normal!
I have successfully copied working maps for the 610 a while ago but have totally forgotten how to do it now...
I have the backed up files on the pc but whatever i try i keep getting " cant authenticate maps blah blah"
used gimgunlock -04 on the image file but when copying it over to the sd-card the same error every time.

I think i am forgetting something basic at the start but just cant remember.

Thanks in advance

You don't say what maps, but probably NTU (CP6500)

Montana 610/680 | 2299 | 350 | MAP: Yes | GMA: Yes | MSV: Weak | GVS: --- | File: Montana610_680_330.gcd
MSV: Weak - it verifies the validity of map signatures in a simple way, you can unlock an .img using gimgunlock-0.04 (without patching your firmware), but in case of unicode maps (CP65001) you must modify the CP value or just Patch your device.

Can you tell me how to undo the patch DriveAssist 51 (2590)

Thu Jan 20, 2022 4:15 am

Hi, I have a question if you can help.
You told me this: Your SD card will have a new file named 154.bin this is a backup of the device's non-volatile memory region and may save your device later if needed, so keep a copy of it somewhere safe.

I have the 154.bin file saved.
Can you tell me how to undo the patch DriveAssist 51 (2590) fw6.20 using the 154.bin file?

Thank you.

Hello, I'm trying to patch 64s, and there are so many issues, maybe someone could help me..
- first of all, I'm on mac, so it makes some problems, Virtualbox works ok, however I couldn't use Win Pro 8.1 because of usb drivers compatibility issues, I used XP SP3
- I patched firmware 6.60 from Webupdate with Patcher 2.20 - no errors
- I was not able to use updater.exe - don't know why it didn't recognise device, even when it was in Preboot Mode
- I found a hint, that I'm able to use Webupdate and drag on them patched firmware. Firmware was copied to internal Garmin storage
- I rebooted Garmin, firmware file wasn't there anymore, but still it seems that I doesn't work. - map authentication error for UTF-8 map

Any hints?

@GarmanNuvi
Damn, it was to easy :lol: You made my day! Thanks!

If you are talking about GPSMAP 64s HWID 1859 it's a simple Drag & drop operation.
