Make sure your device is fully charged.
Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card into your device and power on.
"Loader" will appear on screen for a while then the device will boot up when the flash of patched firmware is complete.
Your device may reboot its self during the process just be patient.

This is the latest Patched version 10.20.As this is a "New" device you should consider the warranty if you choose to Patch it.

This device can be Patched but dependent on if the maps you want to use are Unicode maps (CP65001)
This board requires you to be registered and logged-in to view hidden content.

Oregon 6xx System, SEA | 1843 | 300 | MAP: Yes | GMA: Yes | MSV: Weak | GVS: --- | File:

Legend:
MAP: Yes - it verifies the presence of a valid unlock code, to unlock an .img you can simply use JetMouse keygen.
GMA: Yes - it verifies the FID limit (2200) and the presence of a valid *.gma, to unlock an .img you enough to use the old gimgunlock-0.03 (without MapSigPatch) or one of its derivative.
MSV: Weak - it verifies the validity of map signatures in a simple way, you can unlock an .img using gimgunlock-0.04 (without patching your firmware), but in case of unicode maps (CP65001) you must modify the CP value (see the Temporary authentication of Unicode maps*).
MSV: Strong - it verifies the validity of map signatures more complicated way, in this case you need to patch your firmware and unlock an .img using any correct unlocker.
GVS: Yes - it verifies the validity of firmware signatures, you have to use Updater.exe to install the patched firmware for the first time.

Re: Universal Firmware Patcher for Protected Garmin Devices

I have managed to figure out that the real HWID for EchoMAP Chirp/PLUS 42CV is in fact 2426. I have extracted fw_all.bin (v13.50) with the RGN Tool. It seems though to use another pattern since firmware patcher cannot match anything against MSV and GVS.

I can confirm that others have managed to patch version 13.30 (previously offered here in the forum).

Any ideas?

Code: Select all
Processing file C:\Users\amir\Desktop\Garmin2\fw_all.bin

Firmware name: Firmware version 4.20 for Unknown device (HWID 2426).

Applying rule set MSV... No matches.
Applying rule set GVS... No matches.

HWID 2426 is an echoMAP CHIRP 4x unit, not a Plus. Its firmware does not contain either MSV or GVS or other elements of the new piracy protection.
For ordinary echoMAPs and CHIRP series, it's enough to correctly and completely unlock the chart.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I downloaded the firmware bundle that contains the v13.50 for EchoMap PLUS 42CV (which is the unit I have). Browsing through the GCD file I can only find HWID 2426 which I assumed is same as CHIRP 42CV (HWID 2426). Now I know my unit is not accepting gimgunlocked files with the stock firmware.

Publicly available unlockers don't allow to unlock modern charts completely for your CHIRP.

Not sure I follow. I do not have the CHIRP but a PLUS 42CV. Also I can confirm that I obtained a patched firmware here on this site (v13.30) that previously unlocked my unit allowing for gimgunlocked maps to operate. I have a new unit and I would like to give it the same treatment. It's just that I do not know how to proceed with the bundled GCD that does not have my HWID listed.

Curious on how you managed to patch this image? The IMGpatcher tool does not read the bundle and using the fw_all.bin files separately using RGNTOOL does not provide any matches for MSV or GVS.

HWID 2426 is an echoMAP CHIRP 4x unit, not a Plus.
The ECHOMAP Plus 4x Series has HWID 2807.
Please find out the unit HWID and name in the GarminDevice.xml file from your device.

If it turns out that you really have a Plus, then here's the current patched firmware for it:

The firmware of any marine devices contains a completely different anti-piracy algorithm, leave it alone ;)
