Looking for a way to get my GPSMAP 86i to read unlocked maps. The firmware links that I found in this thread no longer work. Any chance for a fresh one please?

Post 1 has the process to use the Pre boot method to install the patched RGN 177201000880.rar above.
You are not answering the question, so we don't know if you have confirmed the HWID by checking the garmindevice.xml.
Just saying "updater program is not working" does not give us any information to help you.

Looking for assistance for this model. I'm assuming a patch is required as attempting to load maps results in a message the map is corrupt and cannot be used.
