MSV: Weak - it verifies the validity of map signatures in a simple way, you can unlock an .img using gimgunlock-0.04 (without patching your firmware), but in case of unicode maps (CP65001) you can modify the CP value or Patch your device

Check & confirm your HWID is 2713 by looking at your garmindevice.xml

Hi there!
First of all ... sorry for my poor english! xD
I've downloaded the Garmin France Topo 6 for me and my family.
I've got an old Garmin Egde 800 ... and everything works fine on it :D
But my father have a new Garmin Edge Explore and the map doesn't work on it.
So after reading the forum ... I understand that it have to be update.
Informations of this device are :
<PartNumber>006-B3011-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>530</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>Edge Explore</Description>
Does it need an specific patch ? (this is the part of the informations i do not fully understood)
Later I will copy the map on my BF's Edge 1030.
If I got it ... I have to check informations of this device. If HWID is 2713 ... I have to patch it with the file just above?
Either if it works or not ... thanks for the job here! maps for my 800 are just amazing! xD

Hi,

I have just installed the V6 France, north and south unzipped on the micro SD
In the SQL file, I put the 2 north and south "Datat base file" files.

In garmindevice.xml, I have these values:
<PartNumber>006-B2713-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>1200</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>Edge 1030</Description>

HWID is 2713, I can't find it?
I still don't have a basemap on my Garmin 1030.
what was your manipulation?

Best regards . philippe du 63

Hi GarmanNuvi,

I'd like to add Spain and Portugal region to my SD card from the latest CN Europe NTU 2022.10.UN to my nuvi 57. I copied the map as gmapsupp.img to the SD card into a new folder I named 'Garmin' but it says 'Cannot unlock maps' so I guess it needs patching? The error goes away if I remove the SD card. Can you help please? Thanks.

Thanks for the link. I actually found this yesterday but got a warning from my malware program that the site may contain a trojan.
"Website blocked due to trojan
Website blocked: anonfiles.com
Malwarebytes Browser Guard blocked this website because it may contain malware activity."

I followed it anyway just now, but it won't let me download the file until I install a Chrome extension and allow it to change my Chrome default search, and I don't really want to do that. Would you know if it's safe? Thanks

"By clicking 'Download', I accept and agree to installing the Footer Quotes extension and setting Chrome Default search to that provided by the service and the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy."

The designer (whom I know) says and guarantees that it is virus-free and does not understand why the anti-viruses find viruses or others, personally, I put an exception in my anti-virus which eliminated it each time, now it's OK.

Hi mimichris, thanks for the info about the developer and I'm sure there is no problem with the .rar file itself, but for some reason, MalwareBytes thinks anonfiles.com may contain trojans. I ignored the warning anyway this morning and clicked through, but in order to then download the .rar file, the original link forces the user to install a Chrome extension (Footer Quotes) first and would change your default Chrome search to their own, and I was iffy about letting that happen.

Anyways, many thanks GarmanNuvi for the new link and I've successfully downloaded the patch file from there.
Now, I apologise if I'm a bit thick, but I've read a number of threads and have no idea what to do with it.
I read the update.txt in the package for clues, and I'm assuming you need a program of some sort to execute it?

del,0:/.System/gupdate.gcd
rrgn,154,2:/BUK_154.bin
xrgn,14,2:/Garmin/Updater/2087/0E.bin
xrgn,127,2:/Garmin/Updater/2087/0F.bin
xrgn,158,2:/Garmin/Updater/2087/9E.bin
reboot

I have already downloaded from the various threads here (but not installed yet) Gimgun, BaseCamp, ImgTool, MapInstall, MapSource, Protected Garmin File Toolkit_2254 and WebUpdater
I'm Windows savvy but this is all new to me so if you can help, much appreciated. :bs_quesexclaim:

When patched, will this affect my lifetime updates of the installed UK and Ireland map?

I have a Drive 51 and it seems like the patch does not work either. Am I correct in this assumption?

No it won't effect your Lifetime Map updates, I recommend using an SD card for any supplemental maps.

SD card Patch Kit instructions
Make sure your device is fully charged.
Unpack contents to fresh SD card formatted FAT32
Ensure your device is fully OFF (not in standby), insert the card into your device and power on.
"Loader" will appear on screen for a while then the device will boot up when the flash of patched firmware is complete.
Your device may reboot its self during the process just be patient.

Your SD card will have a new file named 154.bin this is a backup of the device's non-volatile memory region and may save your device later if needed, so keep a copy of it somewhere safe.

Drive,Drivesmart 51 has two possible HWID's 2586 or 2803 both have firmware that can be Patched.
I'll assume too ,that yours is HWID 2586 from your location .but check your garmindevice.xml to confirm.
FireFox58 answered the same question last month

Your question implies you tried to use the Patched firmware and it didn't work

Unfortunately it looks like Drive, DriveSmart 52,55,65,71 zumo XT ,Alpha 200i, Montana 700 are all in the same category.
No solution as the Universal Firmware Patcher does not recognise the new encrypted format.
