Chinese GPS Firmware Upgrade

Hello Guys,
I have seen a lot of users searching frantically for Firmware for their Chinese double din WinCe 6.0 units (me included). After a painful googling for several months,
I have stumbled upon this Chinese link. You can open the link and then 'Right Click' and translate it with Bing.
Check your earlier firmware from your unit 'info' and download same MCU software for your model.
i.e. 9023 or 9024 or 9026 etc.
Mine was 9023 and the new software was a pleasant update which resolved all issues.
Extract the downloaded files to root of newly formatted SD card.
You can replace Chinese logo and background before installation by browsing to ZYupdate/ZY8840 res/skin1 and change bk.bmp (background)
and logo.bmp (Bootup logo) with pictures of your choice. Pictures should be only of 800x480 pixel size and saved as 16/24 bit .bmp images. Use mspaint.exe
on your pc for editing and saving any picture for this purpose.
Now put SD card in your GPS slot.
Switch on your unit and wait for upgrade to complete. The software will install in Chinese.
When unit shuts down, quickly remove SD card and wait for restart.
After screen calibration, click on settings icon and change interface language to English.
For steering wheel settings and other modifications use password 3368, when asked.

Hello how can i determine the firmware in my case?

Your system looks like already has 2013 wince version.
Procedure on 'How to find your version' is given in the above Chinese link.
My advice is do not tinker with your system if its working fine and you are absolutely sure what are you doing.
To give different and personalized look you can do the following

If your unit is of 800x480 resolution, You can change logo at boot screen by making a file logo.bmp
and background by bk.bmp in 800x480 pixels from any picture of your choice.
Put these pictures on the root of an sd card, insert in gps slot and restart your system. Logo should be automatically updated
where as background needs to be selected from settings.

This is great thank you but I did not find the procedure on the chinese website for identifying my current firmware

When I click on Info, it is written something above help' logo : "D200D/MAIN8952_1/100504E27" and under it "DISPLAY_V83"
Then if i go in system information, I get :

-ID : 000B-80130327-211110-484E02-20100701
-VER : F553-F57A-702B-120323

tried to change background pictures by putting bk.bmp files in the root of sd card..but nothing happened after restart of my device ( 2 din 800x480 chinese dvd/gps player!!

I would be very careful with this? Do you even know what device this is for? Most of these ROM's are specific to certain hardware and if you mess it up, you'll be in a serious world of hurt.

I would like to do this to mine, but I can't see how it's possible to guarantee WiFi, GPS and also TMC will work afterwards.

Also, there's no way of backing up your current firmware? Dangerous beyond belief in my opinion.

Therefore, I'm thinking no.

What background pictures are you doing to change? But for reference...

The image displayed at boot usually needs to be flashed in with the ROM files.
Windows ce wallpaper can be changed with a mortscript. (registry entry+redraw)
Shell/menu images are usually replaceable by overwriting the image in whatever folder it's in.
GPS software images may be available to overwrite, or replaced with resource hacker etc.

Thanks...how to I use mortscript? I am not an expert in doing the registry entries..
Just want to add more background images.

The wince wallpaper will only be shown briefly at device startup, so you need to work out what image you want to change.
