Guide to Binatone devices

Postby Fatboyfun » Fri Oct 11, 2013 7:11 pm

A few users have reported this error, but I don't know what's causing it and haven't had an affected device to try to fix it.

You're going to have to be more specific than that!

Hello , i have a dead G500 Binatone GPS meaning that when it is powered on the logo appears but does not boot - after 1 min a blue screen appears which says "warning system registry key lost device will restart after 2 seconds pls keep the power surge on" . When i connect it to a PC it shows unknown device on usb for a couple of seconds and then it restarts with the logo and the blue screen . Can someone help me with an advice?

Sounds like the internal flash chip has failed.
The device can't find the registry partition.

Wouldn't be the first time...

It sounds like a hardware failure.

It would appear that Binatone have finally ditched Turd-of-dog 6 on the latest F 435 and S 505 units.
They now appear to be running a version of NDrive. Can anyone confirm this? Are they still as easy to unlock?

From the images I've seen it certainly looks like NDrive 11.

There are some refurbs on Ebay (UK) for £27 (F435) and £30 (S505) and I was tempted to get one to have a play with, but was wondering if there had been any significant hardware/firmware changes along with the change in software. The Binatone website is useless and I can't find any specs elsewhere.
I guess there's only one way to find out.......:fat:

I would imagine it's similar hardware to before, (these are generic chinese devices) but with different software installed by Binatone themselves.
Perhaps Binatone read these forums and realised how bad Turbodog is..?

I would make an educated guess that the unlocking procedure is the same as before.

I have one of these Binatones with win ce 6 working fine for a couple of years now with IGO Primo 2 thanks to the wonderful instructions on here.
2 Questions: is there something "newer" or "better" out there ? (in terms of software) that I can put in this device ?
Also: its complaining about maps being out of date - how can I get newer maps on there ?
Cheers .

Not really software wise, but for new maps just go to the iGO map section.

I have a binatone T430. i have tried to copy tt7 files on root of sd with shell.ini and renaming the folder and .exe files. The tt7 software dont seem to run as it does on A430. Can anyone help me install tt7 on t430. There seems to be not a lot of help available for t430 model.

Older binatone's look for \SDMMC\MobileNavigator\MobileNavigator.exe rather than the SHELL.ini
If that fails replace the MobileNavigator.exe on the internal memory with a mortscript launcher.
