I would like to know what version of gps is this model. I'm looking for the maps and I don't know where to start.

It is Gen.6 system.
In order to update maps, you must replace the HDD [Please Register or Login to download file] .

I find it overkill to have to remove the GPS unit to change the hard disk.

I found this update manual, but I don't know how to get the ISOs or files to update the maps.

For updating the HDD, a specialized tool from the dealer is needed. HDD is locked and a license key number is required.
So even with an ISO file you can't update.
There's some process for unlocking HDD with [Please Register or Login to download file] but it's a little hard.
