Usage (without Navigation Override):

1. Simply Extract the Files
2. Burn .iso to DVD-DL disc (use quality disc and suggested to burn at slower speed ie 4x)
3. Insert Disc in to your vehicle (look up online how to eject your navigation disc and insert new one)
4. Enjoy.

NOTE: Do Not put a CD label on. It could heat up and melt off and ruin your Navigation system

Thanks to you, I was able to test the new maps to see if they had the updates I needed before plunking down $200 at the dealers. The Toyota stealership wouldn't let me try out the new maps before I committed to buy the latest update maps. Turns out the new maps didn't have the specific updates I wanted, so I'm back to where I was ... but this saved me buying something expensive that I couldn't use. Maybe next year.

I have successfully downloaded the 81 parts and assembled them wihtout any problem but am not able to burn a DVD+R DL with the iso/mds file.

Tried using ImgBurn ("optimal layer break point position must be multiple of 16"), Roxio 10.3 (general failure after burn), and Windows Disc Image Burner (Error Code 0x800004005 after burn) but can not get a successful burn. Got the same results from the same three programs using a second PC. The media (Memorex brand DL DVD+R) has worked fine for creating other discs including the Navitotal Honda white disk. Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

Are you loading the mds file into Img Burn? You should be. Open Img Burn, select Burn Image to Disk, Browse to directory where you have stored the mds and iso files, Select the mds file (it will find and use the ISO file).

An MDS file is an optional media descriptor file that can be generated when you create a disc image from a CD or DVD. The format is a binary file with the ASCII identifying characters "MEDIA DESCRIPTOR" appearing in the beginning of the file. The MDS file contains metadata about the original media, specifically the position of the layer breaks or layer breach bit, a property of the copy protection feature of many DVDs. An MDS file is then used in conjunction with its related disc image to re-create the DVD.

Yes, with ImgBurn I am loading the MDS file and not the ISO. In fact ImgBurn is so good that on one of the two machines that I tried I accidentally loaded the ISO file and ImgBurn barked at me that I should load the MDS file and that it would do it for me "this time"... love that program, it is so well written!
With the other burning programs I loaded the ISO since they don't seem to know what an MDS file was.
I get the impression that the 81 file upload is bad. I wonder if the person that successfully made a disc from this image did it with the 81 files or the two files listed above.
I mean what are the chances of me being able to create Honda discs but not the Toyota disc using the same media, drive, and software.... and then trying the same from a second machine. Of course I would love to know if it is something silly that I overlooked, but absent of that I would caution anyone else about downloading the 81 files as it is quite a time consuming exercise that for me has been fruitless.

I was able to burn the image by doing the following, but the resulting DVD has yet to be tested in the car.

When using ImgBurn burning software I went into the Tools-Options menu and selected the Write tab, set the LayerBreak to UserSpecified, and entered the size of 2066000. After you initiate the burn a warning message will appear about the size of the layer brake in the ISO being different than what is specified and asking if you want to change it. Say NO. If you say yes it fails (the ISO layerbrake size is not a multiple of 16 that is either a requirement of ImgBurn or the particular Memorex DVD+R DL that Staples and RadioShack sell). If you set the LayerBreak to match the ISO image it fails. If the LayerBreak is set to the default Optimal setting (where ImgBurn calculates the size automatically) it fails. This works in as far as it allows the disc to successfully be burned, but the resulting DVD has yet to be tested in a car.
