3D buildings (gmap3d.img)

Image

3D buildings is rather self explanatory – the unit will superimpose a 3D image of the buildings in the vicinity of your position when the unit is in routing mode, so you can at least see/visualise the landmarks around you, rather than at present, where there is nothing to tell you whether you are 100% on the correct road/lane/street or not. The picture best illustrates this idea.
Copy it in your nuvi's \Garmin directory

Compatibility: Nuvi 7x5 series and the 3790T

Image

Lane Assistant

If multiple lanes are to be encountered on your next turn, the Next Turn arrow (single arrow in the green section at the upper left) turns into multiple arrows indicating the available lanes at that junction. It is at this point when the Next Turn indicator (single arrow) turns into the Lane Assist indicator (multiple arrows). The white arrow(s) indicate the lanes you should be in to complete the maneuver while the gray arrow(s) indicate the lanes you should not be in to complete the maneuver.

Lane Assistant files in Garmin\JCV folder.

Lane Assist screen shot:

junction view (JCV)

junction view shows the driver which lane on a multi-lane road to take after turning. As we know, modern roads have more than one lane – and being in the right lane can save your life preventing accidents.
Right on the display you will see realistic road signs with arrows showing you exactly how to navigate the exit
See the screenshot below for junction view .

Time zone map (gmaptz.img)

Image

Save gmaptz.img in the Garmin folder on your device

Garmin will automatically determine your current time zone. From your location, it will calculate which time zone you are in, thanks to a small map file in the unit's memory. This is a nice feature if you frequently change time zones, because your GPS's time will update automatically.

ASR-files
"SRX+ASR"/Voice recognition files (Automatic Speech Recognition)

Image

Image

ASR files must be in the Garmin folder in the ASR Folder

Speech recognition makes navigation safer and easier than ever. Now it’s possible to keep both hands on the wheel, tell nüvi what to do and where to go, and you’re on your way to stress-free travel.
Once activated, the user can effortlessly manipulate controls by speaking the words that correspond to buttons that are on the touchscreen display, so that almost any common task can be performed without ever touching the unit.
For the ultimate in safety, a driver at any time speak the phrase, “where am I?” and their device will display its exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. Speech recognition can also be used to search for addresses as well – all hands-free, from start to finish.

NüRoute technology with trafficTrends historical traffic and myTrends G2S (GarminAdjacencytoSSID) and .db files

Experience nüRoute™ Technology with trafficTrends™ and myTrends™
With trafficTrends™ and myTrends™ no subscription are necessary, no added costs, your nüvi GPS just does it.
With myTrends, when you save your regular destinations in your “Favorites,” your nüvi Garmin will, over time, begin to figure out where you’re going even without your telling it! It provides time of arrival and relevant traffic information. So whether you’re driving to and from work or a regularly scheduled weekly event, your Garmin Nuvi will help you get there on time.
With trafficTrends, your nüvi Garmin GPS automatically learns daytime trends for traffic flow to improve your routes and better predict your estimated time of arrival based on time of day and day of week. And you get free trafficTrends™ updates every time you connect your device to myGarmin.

can we put this file on SD Card instead of Garmin unit(3760)?

Tue Jan 03, 2012 1:56 am

Since we're talking about Garmin terminology, could someone please explain the "NT" in certain map names? I still can't figure it out.

Tue Jan 03, 2012 8:41 am

NT means "new technology" and is a compression procedure to make the map images smaller. Nearly all Garmin devices except really old ones can handle this map format.

Sat Jan 21, 2012 10:15 pm

Are you able to add features like NüRoute technology & trafficTrends to sat navs?

Mine is a 765T which has traffic updates, but doesn't have these features as standard.

Thanks

Sat Jan 21, 2012 10:28 pm

No, it's only sometimes possible to activate some features from better equipped devices of same series.

Tue Sep 17, 2013 1:08 pm

Hi! Can we put these files on SD Card instead of Garmin (nuvi 2415LT) internal storage?

How do I know if my device runs the Traffic Receiver file on the SQLite folder or the G2S folder? I own a Garmin 3590LMT that has an microSD reader. Any guidance appreciated.

The complete list of file types and location that your device uses is in your garmindevice.xml.
it does not use G2S. The device file and folder structure is in the .system folder don't start adding files that are not for your device, just look what is currently there and follow that for different maps and additional files.

Not all Garmin automotive devices include the feature that displays landmarks and surrounding buildings in 3D on your map as you navigate.
Just search your device name with your browser, if isn't mentioned or shown in the picture by Garmin it's not able to use the file.
Cannot Read : [Please Register or Login to download file]
Can Read : [Please Register or Login to download file]

Check your devices garmindevice.xml to find out if it is capable of displaying landmarks and surrounding buildings in 3D
