UNLOCKED maps of Austria V4 Pro and Schweiz V4 Pro were still locked for GPSMAP 64s

First I used "Protected Garmin file toolkit 2254_x64": toolkit detected maps were unlocked.
Second I used "Garmin Unlocker Alternative 7.1.6": toolkit unlocked both maps, both maps are now available for GPSMAP 64s

I was not able to unlock Schweiz v4pro and Austria v4pro with "Protected Garminfile toolkit_2254_x64" for GPSMAP64s. The tool said it was already unlocked.
I could unlock both with Garmin Unlocker Alternative 7.1.6
But both tools could not handle German v7 pro (because the file is bigger than 2GB?)
gimgunlock 2.0 and 3.0 could not handle German v7 pro
but ...
the tool ImgTool v1.8.16.zip
that can be found here
https://sites.google.com/site/sherco40/imgtool
resolved the Germany problem. After installation and executing the program, browse for the img
Select "code page". Select v all 5 types at the right
introduce new code page = 1252 + apply + close
done!

I can confirm that none of the offered methods work to get a AU topo map working on a new Nüvi55LM.
No matter which way, no matter which tool.
Although some claim a firmware downgrade would help, I did not do it as the unit was not mine, istead I had to tell my friend to either buy an older GPS or to buy the map he wants for and extra 150 bucks :(

It doesn't work with a GPSmap64S and FW 3.80. I can use unlocked maps on any Oregon, so the unlock process itself works, but not with the latest copy protection of the GPSmap64. When I try to use such a map, the device tells me to get in contact with the seller...
Any ideas?

The final solution seems to be a combination of several steps.
1. unlock the map - I used gimgtools 0.03
2. change the codepage of the unlocked map to 1252 with ImgTool 1.9x
3. boot your device with the modified map
If it shows the unlocked map shutdown your GPS and change the codepage of your unlocked map back to unicode 65001 in order to get the special characters again.
Enjoy!
Tested with Topo V7 and City Navigator 2016.20...

I guess when the GPS recognized a map once as "original" it stores the information in the device and never checks again. Maybe it helps to find a one way solution for future releases
